Cannizaro would be so likable if he wasn't the coach at State. Though I'm pretty sure he sold his soul to a Mandeville voodoo witch to win that regional last year.

That really surprises me, but thanks for doing the research. I was not trying to exaggerate with my 85% guess.

Highest home win % in all of D1? The Ivy League, where the home team has won 84% of conference games this season.

That's a fucking face palm of a response from the coach.

Sounds like something a Louisiana Tech alum would say.

UTSA spanked WKU today.

I feel like CUSA is a mediocre league where the home team wins about 85% of the time. The separation between the top teams and the middle-tier teams isn't enough to overcome home court advantage.

Home team wins 57% of the time in CUSA, per KenPom. That's 25th out of 32 D1 leagues.

Surprised about WKU losing to UTSA today. They have the best win in the conference by far (Purdue on a neutral floor) but MTSU seems to be the better team at this point.

Couple things that have gone on during my 10-day vacation from the forum.

- MSU stopper Spencer Price is done for the year with TJ surgery. IMO, Riley Self is better than him but still a pretty significant loss for the Dogs. They'll need guys like Blake Smith and Keegan James to step up. Rumor is Self and JP France (their projected Sunday guy) have some minor health issues but should be OK for opening weekend. We shall see.

- Media day was last week. Berry and Wallner both spoke (see below).

https://youtu.be/b5YzfilZ28g

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onfmJoKZQRI

- D1baseball picked us to win the league. From what I've seen, we are the unanimous favorite (coaches, D1, PerfectGame, and College Baseball Daily) to win C-USA. In the preview, they say Wallner is the #1 2019 prospect in the conference with Sandlin #7 and Reynolds #10 out of 2018 prospects. Weirich (#5) and Och (#6) made their top 10 freshman list.

Scrimmage notes/box score from today. It lasted 6 innings and was pretty well-attended (80-90 people or so). I think they were planning on playing 7 but rain was threatening.

Couple quick notes:

- Wallner struggled on the mound. Wasn't locating well then Will McGillis absolutely crushed one of his pitches for a grand slam. I think he was doing OK in some of his previous appearances so maybe this is just a fluke thing. As for McGillis, he still probably redshirts this spring but probably is our 3B next year if Reynolds leaves.

- Powers was solid. Allowed one run in 4 innings and let just 4 men on-base. Definitely has the inside track for a weekend slot.

- I think Keating gets the nod at DH opening day, but Hoard looked a lot better than he did today. Roped doubles to both sides of the field.

- Nelms didn't have his best stuff. Got through the 1st inning fine but had some trouble after that. Need him or Carroll to step up and take that midweek role.

- Wright is listed on the box score twice because he pitched for both teams. He was on the black team but finished things off for the gray team when Wallner was pulled. He was the only guy warm I guess and they didn't want to use another arm today.

Baseball media day is tomorrow. Hopefully we get a couple tidbits out of that.

Perfect Game put out their list of top sophomores. Wallner is #8. Couple guys that are ahead of him (McClanahan and Rolison) are 2018 eligible, so take them out and he’s the #6 prospect out of 2019 college players. D1 is going to release their list of top 50 2019 prospects in the next week or so, and I think that will include HS and college guys.

Also, Sun Herald/Magee put out a preview of the 2018 pitching staff: http://www.sunherald.com/sports/college … nk=SecList

CUSA preseason poll/awards are out. We're picked to win the league with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Wallner was named preseason player of the year and Sandlin was named preseason pitcher of the year.

we already knew that.....that wasn't his point.....

what he's saying is there is some big money in this town......and it's being misspent in relative terms.....

title IX sucked since it was implemented.....and then it expanded into sports.......

guess what happens to the low budget schools.......

What was his point then?

Berry says he’s “toying” with the idea of Guidry leading off. If so, I see Irby moving down the order so we don’t have 4 lefties leading off.

1) Guidry - 2B
2) Keys - CF
3) Reynolds - 3B
4) Wallner - RF
5) Keating - DH
6) Slater - 1B
7) Donaldson - C
8) Irby - LF
9) Boyd - SS

the more I look at that lineup, the more I like it....

That's what I think will happen ... but if I got to draw it up, I'd go:

1) Franklin - CF
2) Guidry - 2B
3) Wallner - RF
4) Reynolds - 3B
5) Keating - DH
6) Slater - 1B
7) Bowen - C
8) Irby - LF
9) Boyd - SS

Hello. You get us there next year. Are you gonna offer us the tickets first?  No.

How are our admins handling this poorly? Not trolling/flaming. Just curious.

You don’t need 15 separate categories for ticket buying for a regular series. Makes you look petty. Act like you have been there people.

There was 0 chance of state ppl having a large presence at the Pete w/o all this BS.

Well, I agree with you that there are too many categories. Should be 2. Let EC/Dugout/season tix holders buy their tickets first ... then open up tickets to the general public.

State fans would buy all the tickets if they opened it up to the general public immediately. Trust me. We'd see 1500-1600 USM fans there from season ticket purchases then the other 3000+ would all be State fans. They'd all flood the ticket site as soon as they went for sale. Those people are absolutely insane about college baseball.

Rumblings that it will be Marshall at home and Charlotte on the road. Apparently this is the 2nd year of the new schedule cycle with UAB re-joining the league.

Blame UAB for everything...
