I've pretty much tuned out Country music since Toby Keith showed up.
I've been to his restaurant in OKC......The Planet Hollywood of Oklahoma.......he had a big issue with people ordering french fries at his american bar and grill so he changed them to freedom fries.......until someone reminded him that he had wine on the menu from France and beer from Germany......
Now he just calls them fries........
]]>I learned from that story that there is a country singer named Jake Owen and a golfer named Speith.
Definitely knew about Speith, but I've pretty much tuned out Country music since Toby Keith showed up.
]]>my personal Masters' story consists of repeatedly high fiving Jack's son, Steve in a packed out 19th hole at HCC during a rain delay in the Deposit Guaranty watching on a POS 32" Magnavox when the Bear won in '86....the putt he me made on 16 was as good as it got that day!
the Masters is a week like none other....the ol' adage, "the Masters doesn't start until the back nine on Sunday." was in full effect that day...
]]>Country music star Jake Owen and Phil Mickelson had a sharp verbal altercation at Jordan Spieth's wedding last Thanksgiving Day weekend and Lefty delivered a first-round knockout as only he can.
The Anne Verret-Jordan Spieth nuptials were held in Texas the day after the infamous Tiger vs. Phil pay-per-view match.
Owen was one of the millions who paid $29.99 to watch the event on pay-per-view, only to learn later millions of others had been able to watch the match for free. Owen, who is pals with Spieth, was not impressed with the quality of golf he had paid nearly $30 to watch.
Owen has a one handicap and played the Web.com Tour's Nashville Golf Open Benefitting the Snedeker Foundation on a sponsor's exemption last year.
After a few drinks, Owen decided to share his feelings with Mickelson.
He tells the story on the Barstool Sports "ForePlay" podcast.
Mickelson's reply was epic Phil.
"I was like, hey, Phil, you owe me (expletive) $29.99 for wasting four hours of my life with the (expletive) golf I've ever seen," Owen recalled telling Mickelson, who now has 44 PGA Tour victories. "I want my $29.99 back and apologize to me for some (expletive) golf."
The unflappable Mickelson instantly pulled out a wad of cash ripped off a $100 bill.
"I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take one of these and go (expletive) yourself," he said.
And in case you think Owen was talking out of school, Mickelson later Tweeted: "True Story " in response.
Never stop being you, Phil.
