Damn! North Texas sux! I can’t believe Southern Miss lost to them (or anyone on this year’s schedule actually).
The CUSA game is basically a Lane Kiffin/FAU love fest. Now watching the AAC game. CUSA is NO WHERE NEAR being in the same league with ANY of those teams. It’s really sad how far we’ve fallen but that’s just the way it is these days. Not sure what can really be done about it at this point.

This thread is one example of why Southern Miss football is in the state that it's in. A post on a Southern Miss message board dedicated to the Mississippi State game. A team that we don't play who has absolutely NO interest in Southern Miss at all but yet we follow them and Ole Miss around like infatuated school girls! I guarantee you no one from MSU is going to post anything on their boards about our game today against the mighty UNC-Charlotte.

I’m going to change direction this day and say that USM will show up and pull one of the biggest victories since Monken left for Tampa.......don’t kid yourself, this win will be bigger than that overrated Kentucky win last season......UTSA is a good team. UTSA is No. 1 in the nation in passing yards allowed per game (121.0) eighth in rushing defense (86.0 ypg), and 10th in scoring defense (13.7 ppg). Teams have converted just 17% on third down against UTSA. We find a way to open up the passing game early and win the turnover battle with the D getting us points as well. USM 31 UTSA 21

Remember when we were in a conference with East Carolina, Houston, Cincinnati, Louisville, TCU, Memphis, Tulane, etc. and we all used to bitch about how bad and beneath us that CUSA was?
There are so many "what ifs" and "so close" here at Southern Miss over the last 4 decades it's unreal.
Yep...another Southern Miss catch-phrase could be, "Almost! Played 'em close! Put a scare into (enter the name of any P5 conference team here)".
