Bower 2.0, replace OC yearly but nothing changes because he throttles the offense, thinking he can still win games with defense circa the 1990s.

Exactly, and it's not like someone else is taking a pay cut. So the pay pool for assistants has to increase, and Dawson's the obvious reason why.

Unless something has changed since I talked to the people who handle public records requests at USM last month, Dawson's been working without a contract at the $50,000 / year rate that USM was always paying him.

The NCAA now allows 10 on-field coaches rather than 9.  So, a portion of the additional funds will go to the 10th coach with Dawson getting whats left.

Interested to hear opinions.

The HC at Independence is an all-around douche.  Makes Buddy Stephens look like a Baptist preacher, I'm 4 episodes in and it actually makes East MS look like a monastery.

Ricky Lloyd was recruited by Fedora I believe.

I saw where Sloter tweeted the other day that "On this day XX years ago Southern Miss pulled my scholly and told me I wasn't good enough"

Ouch!

Lloyd was a Fedora recruit, Sloter had committed to Tulane by Bustle and flipped when EJ hired Bustle to be our OC.  Monken moved him to wide out after Bridgford, Mullens and the 4 star from TCU came in and, apparently, pulled his scholly after that.

No more farting around wasting time on the sidelines  and shit. And knees must be covered by kneepads now. the leaping call has been clarified, But not very well. You can only leap in the gap of 2 linemen. These are the new rules for 2018. You can trust what I just said. I have cred.

Starting the 40 second clock immediately after kickoffs, TDs and field goals won't change anything because of media timeouts.

You don't always have media timeouts after these. As for USM, We don't have any media. so stay put in your seat.

We may not have media but it didnt stop the red-shirt man from holding up play way too much last season.

Hop controlled the whistle on QB contact.  He was really quick on it with Abraham and Rodriquez, to the point of blowing the play dead as soon as the offensive line was breached.  He held off on Keon and let the plays develop more before blowing the whistle on them.  The fact that they even give rushing yardage for Keon is crap, seeing that the defense wasn't allowed to touch QB's and they kept running Keon.  The playcaller for the Gold team seemed to have more experience at finessing the finer points of "no QB contact" playcalling than the OC for the black squad.  It took him several series to realize downfield passes and any play that needed time to develop was going to be a no-go.

Dawson was on the Gold sidelines...not sure who called plays for Black.  More proof Keon had the advantages.

Scottie Walden was calling for the black.

This has to be a joke, right?

Patrick said that Hop is a defensive man and the defense will be what he wants, how he wants, regardless of who the DC ends up being.  Looks more and more like it's going to end up being a full blown shit-show.  Don't know if Koenning or Dawson will be running the offense next fall.

I was listening to the jackwagons on the "Eagle Hour" yesterday and they said that they will be speaking with Patrick Magee today,3-22 about the search for a DC and whether or not we will have one for spring football.  This is supposed to be your "go-to" programo for all things involving Southern Miss athletics.  Of course, they also said that Marcelo Rodriguez would play into the QB battle as a true freshman now that his red-shirt year was over.

So there's some chance the current Billings / Nicholson arrangement won't last long? I guess that's good.

McDaniel beat Cochran soundly in the primary but didn't get enough to win outright.  The "Real" Republicans got out and paid preachers in Meridian and Vicksburg to get democrats to vote Cochran in the run-off to beat McDaniel and it worked.  One of the dirtiest elections in MS in a while...
