We got our dicks kicked in today boys!

Pathetic.  JM still has some catching up to do with me for "making" this hire.  It was a letdown when it happened to watch a new AD fold to the usual cast of folks behind the scenes (that brought us EJ and Hop).

#3 Re: Southern Miss » New USM Mascot for The Pete……. » 2021-08-13 20:44:58

That's some funny shit right there just because someone heard what they wanted to hear rather than what was actually said.  So who was the racist fuck that thought they heard a racial epithet rather than "ding-er".  Idiots!!

#4 Re: Southern Miss » Don’t call me Nugget! » 2021-07-20 19:52:27

Sanders is a one-way showboating mother fucker!  Fuck him!  That attention whore now wants to forget his own NIL but compare himself to Nick Saban.  Fuck off!!!

And yeah, I do wonder how USM will connect G&SI to the rest of the Coast properties. To succeed at this will require a level of imagination and aggression I just have not seen from USM lately.

Yup, we've just got buildings littered about the entire Coast!

It's honestly impressive what USM has accomplished in spite of this "townie" small potatoes mentality that reveals itself from time to time. I mean, if the people who ran Yale had settled for being top dog in New Haven, CT, how far would they have gone?

What building in Gulfport did USM buy from Mississippi Power? The Gulf & Ship Island Building? That's a nice building, and extremely well kept-up, but it's hard to imaging it's worth more than, IDK, a few million dollars.

Damn dude, are you from the Coast?  Not many folks know that building by it's actual name!  Yah, it's a swank building because the mafioso Power Co spends lavishly.  I am very pleased that USM "owns" it but as poor as we are, I'd preferred us just build a new building at Gulf Park.  It's done now so I've got no beef.  I will say the argument of being in the G&SI building was more convenient doesn't add up since it's not like you can walk from there to the port and parking sucks.  It's honestly a 3 min drive from Gulf Park to the port and probably at least that much from the downtown as well when you factor parking, walking, etc.  I much prefer the campus concept over the urban concept.

Whomever occupies the building will be very impressed with the view to the South and lunch options will be very diverse within walking distance.  Long Beach would have really benefitted from the increased revenue streams at the handful of locally owned restaurants but it was a done deal by the time the politicians were aware of what was going on.

Kind of had the same thought. I don't want to be too negative, but holding a PMP certification isn't generally press release-worthy.

I've ruffled feathers with my comments in regard to her saying in her bio that she is a business owner but in reviewing the filings with the Sec of State, she is listed as the Secretary of several LLCs.  Some of those have been dissolved and some are still active.  My point is that running a government entity versus your own small business is nowhere near the same animal.  Until you've invested (risked) every phucking penny to your name in a business (crapshoot), you probably have no idea how it works.  In the public sector, you manage the budget you are GIVEN.  She managed like 3 other ladies at her prior gig at USM (place named for a crooked senator).

With all that said, she probably has more actual business experience (filing the annual reports for her hubby's cattle farm) than anyone else we've ever had in a position such as hers.  I think Dr Miller was an engineer working out at Stennis Space Center (yep, another place named for a crooked senator).  Frances Lucas was academia that bombed out of her gig in J'town prior to being given the gig here.  I can't even recall who she replaced

I hope she can effectively manage Gulf Park, the Gulf Coast Research Lab in OS, the new building in downtown Gulfport that USM paid MS Power waaaay too much money for, the new building at the Port and 90 intersection, the old research boat, the soon to be delivered research boat, and the other new building on the Port of Gulfport named for a do-nothing MFer of a senator.  Oh, and a Blue Economy too!!

None of them including Bennett knew what to do with Gulf Park. It was a neat idea to buy it back in 72 but not one person had a plan of substance in how to capitalize on this gorgeous slice of real estate.  I looked at the credentials of the latest person named to lead Coastal Operations and I'm not impressed.  She's not the worst person to lead it by far but I can't imagine what being a cattle farmer's wife from Covington county has to do with running a Blue Economy school with global contacts.

Keep in mind some of the past leaders were political appointees.  One such was AKL's daughter who quickly appointed all of her "woke" friends to leadership/dean positions.  It nearly killed the nursing program.  Once Francis was run off, Dr Miller was such a leadership force that he was demoted and given a position in Hattiesburg so RDB could keep his thumb directly on his head.  I liked Miller but I think he may have ruffled some feathers in the LBGTQ club Francis had fostered/elevated.

I will give this new lady a year to do something good.  And getting a gift from a Senator doesn't count.  Wicker only supported this project so he could have a building named after his sorry ass!

There is so much potential down here and I've had some politicos tell me that Moo is positioning themselves to "partner" with USM with the goal of taking over Coastal Operations altogether.

Nigel Farage had much to say about the two brats after their embarrassing "interview".  Of course I didn't watch that stupid shit but I did see a pic of it and the location was quite gorgeous.  Not bad for "poor" cast-off people.

#10 Re: Southern Miss » Fedora fired » 2020-12-22 22:03:37

I know the money was great at UNC but I was surprised that he didn't get a better gig when he left here.  It was a good move for the money but crap for his career.   He probably doesn't need the money but you have to think that large ego is hating life right now.  I wonder how many G5 jobs he went after this year and if his agent actually reached out to USM after the shit he took on us when he left.  I really liked the dude until that day.

#11 Re: Southern Miss » Being Bielema » 2020-12-19 23:27:40

Damn, that's a lot of money to pay a guy that's with his recent track record.  Didn't perform at Arky, sat out for a year or two.  Just damn!

#12 Re: Southern Miss » Jack » 2020-12-18 22:53:56

So when Abraham says this will prepare him for the "next level", is he talking about the Arena league or what??

We scored 35+ more points in a matter of a few days of coaching/practicing.  I'm looking forward to the 100 point production in the next game!  hmm

Well I kind of look at it this way. Dr. Bennett is the boss. Sometimes you go along to get along. I am hoping Dr. Bennett realizes the benefit of a strong athletic program to compliment academics.

The big question I have on Dr. Bennett is what has he done to move the University forward  (Covid 2020 does not count)? What I mean is money for programs, adding programs and such. We are all pretty much aware of the social items such as flag removal, BLM marching, VP for diversity hiring, and striking down the Coach Briles hire. I did read student enrollment was up but to me a hundred or so new bodies is kind so so. Maybe he has done a ton outside of the social agenda. I just don't know.

Ace...

His attempted destruction of the Dixie Darlings was extreme, petty, troubling, and defines for me where he is, what he is and the lengths he would go if it were not for a few "influential" alumni yanking his leash and achieving a delay.

And next will be the purge of names.

Which ones?  Roberts, McCain, etc.  Are there more?  I'm hoping all that shit was just to cause strife prior to the election but I also realize how free societies are dismantled and this is straight from the playbook.  If they start erasing names because of the past transgressions, there is no stopping point.  I can think of a couple bible quotes that would make that line of thinking moot but we are also talking about a group of folks led by evil, Godless people.

Bennett is funny...he's not attempted to make us hire minorities in key positions (merely for the sake of numbers) just yet but he's sneaking around the back door trying to get some smaller (in his eyes) victories.  We lost a lot of rank & file people when he was forced down our throats and many will never come back.  But if I had to give the guy a grade for the state of the school under his watch and his hires, it would be an F+.  I throw in the "+" simply due to our attaining the high status for being a research institution.  Not that that matters as we've not seen one phuckin penny in the coffers from that stuff.

"Sneaking around the back door" makes me think of coining a new nickname for him....we should call him Rimmer!

I really didn’t think he was leaving Ark St so maybe he was actually in the running for USM. The man did what he could in Jonesboro. Would imagine everywhere he turns he is reminded of his wife who passed. Change can probably help the man heal. Wish him the best at Utah St.

I was told last night at the game by an insider that he was very much in play but that we simply couldn't pay the $800K buyout.  There is a guy on GEP that "knows some folks" that swears it was a done deal with Blake the week before Hall was hired...he still maintains that position today.  My source from last night thinks we are in a much better place with Hall with the situation we currently have.

After watching the game last night in person (not sure what it looked like on TV), we do not have some huge void of talent that many say we do.  A good coach can fix our problems quickly!  With that said, someone close to Hall told me yesterday that a Head Coach "from the Coast" told Hall to his face that he was walking into a "shit show" where the "inmates ran the asylum".  This refers directly to the daddy ball that was going on with the Abrahams and Cloptons and it's terrible effects on the team.

#16 Re: Southern Miss » Does Wilbur take full control of team this week? » 2020-12-07 06:39:47

Wilbur... lol  lol  lol That fits the ole boy well.

Everyone seems to be thinking that he will be finalizing the hiring of his new staff and recruiting this week, then taking an observation role all week before giving the NoHop boys their walking papers Thursday night after the game.

#17 Re: Southern Miss » Missed the presser » 2020-12-04 08:21:46

He shoulda done the Carey game because if we play that tentative in conference, not gonna win the big ones (saying that not having a clue if you can call any of our games big).  I was just happy we didn't continue the losing trend to WC!

#18 Re: Southern Miss » It took 3 months.... » 2020-12-04 08:17:07

Hall was somewhere around 3 or 4 on my wish list after Freeze was removed.  The only plus I could think of is the fact that he has pulled kids to Tulame for the past 2 years and his supposed connections in MS.  Now that he's here, I've read some things that make him sound like he's constantly studying/improving his O ideas.  That's better than reading he was a lunk of shit so there's that. I'm really interested to see what kind of staff he assembles and how they perform under the gun in basically a week's time to pull a recruiting class.  I was really worried that JM would hire someone like Roberts or even worse so I've accepted this move for now.  A shit ton better than what we had!

Dude better start snatching kids out of his ass because otherwise, we got nothing going on for early signing period.  Nothing.

#19 Re: Southern Miss » So how is your other team doing this year? » 2020-12-04 08:05:11

After Zeta hit all the harbors were closed for weeks, nowhere to launch.  It was hot, flat, and dry but we couldn't go anywhere.  Where did you get into specs?

#20 Re: Southern Miss » So how is your other team doing this year? » 2020-11-30 23:59:58

With all the goofy shit going on with 2020, I haven't had time to have another team so I've just been wallowing in the misery since it got too chilly to run the boat shirtless to Horn Island every weekend to look at puss and drink beer!
