I realize I wasn't exactly addressing the author's complaint. My comment was more like, "oh well, fucktard, we still get to go to a decent bowl game."

That said, I think it's a semi-interesting game. The bowl games I find boring are the P5 also-ran bowls: the Gator, Citrus, Liberty, etc.

there is generally much poo-pooing of the bowl system in general, and much mindless flaccid dork fluffing of the "playoff" system, completely oblivious of the flat fact that the "playoff" system is just another means of enforcing the status quo, and making sure no one else ever gets a sliver of the P5's pie.

the "playoff" isn't what people think it is.  it's actually the opposite of what people think it is.

so, bowl games in general get shit on.

Let college football get its little slice of the December pie. Seems like an obviously fun, good thing to me. I just hope for fewer G5-vs.-G5 matchups.

if it would've opened at 14, I would've bought it down to -13.5 with the expectation of hoping it went up.....however, that wasn't an option.....hell, I think we win the game straight up.....no homerism....those jaroons don't give two shites, they have a number of players out, and we're hungry for blood in the respect column....

another crazy caveat......I had StL Rams vs. the Titans when Dyson came up shy by that 0.5 yrd on a -6.5/+7.5 800.00 middle.....had just gotten married......

that's actually part of the problem.  there's a lot of "dead air" between the end of football season and what the MSSM thinks are "respectable" bowls.  for years, they spent every day of those 4 weeks talking about who got screwed out of the national title game, and how "the system" needs to be "fixed".  but today, with their spiffy new illusion of justice and the divine perfection of a playoff . . .  they spend every day of those 4 weeks talking about who got screwed out of the playoffs, and how "the system" needs to be "fixed".

I guess they think we don't notice.
