SDSU vs. Army in the Armed Forces Bowl

Todd Monken's cousin Jeff still coaching the Army football team.

How is there an "Armed Forces Bowl" and also a "Military Bowl"?

Re: SDSU vs. Army in the Armed Forces Bowl

Army's supposedly running a nine-play offensive game plan tonight.

Guess you don't need too many plays when you're running an option offense. They also didn't get in as many pre-bowl practices as the rest of us.

they're Army....they're disciplined....and they have Bradshaw who is a beast....he's making sdju's linebackers look silly most of the time.....

Monken's done a great job carrying on that tradition since he was hired.....

I picked Army on both my bowl sheets....

Re: SDSU vs. Army in the Armed Forces Bowl

SDSU will gradually figure out Army's offense over the course of the game. Their scout team probably can't simulate it well, but 60+ chances defending it in live action will start to turn the lightbulbs on for the SDSU defenders.

The other side of the coin is defensive fatigue. Chasing those Army backs and blockers around all afternoon will only wear people out.

Interesting game, all in all.

I don't think so (figuring out Army's schematic...they don't have the D line over the course of the game and the LBs are too slow)....and w/o question defensive fatigue becomes a serious problem.....however, if army plays D the rest of the way like this, it won't matter.....

the last Army series was a TTT momento....

Yeah, if the lightbulbs are turning on for the SDSU defenders, it doesn't seem to be happening quickly enough.

Penny is unstoppable....his initial burst coupled with his mass building momentum is a sight to behold.....

he's easily a 1st rounder....

One of the announcers said it: Army's game plan has to be to keep him off the field. They did a good job of that for most of the first three quarters.

Cut blocks are no longer legal downfield / outside the tackles.

Re: SDSU vs. Army in the Armed Forces Bowl

Does Army go for 2?

Normally I'd say no, but if there was ever a time to fight for 2 and the win, it's now.
