Problem in a Nutshell.......

Turtle Creek Mall Belk display this week.......

Turtle Creek Mall Belk once USM fans complained yesterday afternoon.......

You have a Hattiesburg business that survives financially on the spending cash of one of citys biggest employers and they choose to appeal to a completely different school.

Best part......in their attempt to "fix" the mistake they made it even more apparent that they don't even have any licensed USM merchandise for purchase with those generic colored outfits......

Hard to believe they don't at least sell a USM shirt. Russell -> Adidas transition issue, maybe?

They push what actually sells.  Would not surprise me at all if Ole Miss gear outsells USM gear there.

Re: Problem in a Nutshell.......

Ole Miss definitely outsells USM gear at Belk in Hattiesburg.....its crystal clear they don't sell any USM gear.

Selling Ole Miss stuff isn't the issue at all. They should sell Ole Miss, MS St and LSU gear as well. If I go to Bel Air Mall in Mobile, they should carry Bama and Auburn gear. But if they are in the backyard of the USA campus they should also sell Jaguar gear.

Its a small issue, but small issues add up to a bigger long standing problem in Hattiesburg. Belk is the main anchor at TC. They set the tone and should want to proactively partner with the community. You would love to walk into TC and see a majority of the stores supporting USM. I believe every business with a marquee in town should promote USM on game weeks on their sign. Its simple business, without USM they would not survive.

Toby and Dilbert should be meeting with all major employers on a consistent basis to build a partnership, especially considering the pending taco tax for the arena upgrades. We are just use to accepting things the way they are and some simple conversations and actions can build momentum.

USM shouldn't put all of their eggs in Lamar County......The Sonic in Sumrall can only do so much.......

The University Bookstore sells our stuff exclusively and competes with them.

Better product and demand may grow.

That is where Gilbert's attention needs to be laser beam focused.

So much for diversity.

I doubt our fans would buy USM merchandise if Belks carried it.
