Re: Monken

Yup. The whole staff is out at TB.

From the beginning of Monken's time there, I wondered whether Jameis Winston was really the player they needed. If Monken had doubts of his own, they were outweighed by the overall appeal of an NFL OC job. The job he had before that was kind of difficult, you know what I'm sayin'?

Re: Monken

TB aside, Monken seems to be getting attention as a potential NFL head coach:

Re: Monken

In all seriousness, when Monken lands his next gig, expect Nick to follow. He is a free agent and his numbers on a bad team were impressive for a qb with zero NFL experience. Outside of Shanahan, I can't think of a better person to take Nicks NFL game to the next level.

On the subject of Shanahan, Steve Sarkisian just got fired.

Re: Monken

NFL thread but along the same lines. Several college coaching vacancies this year. Southern Miss staff  didn’t even make the rumor mill of interest. No interest, how interesting

Its still early and lots of moving pieces still playing out. Think about it this way......Mark Richt retiring impacted probably 4-5 schools conservatively yesterday when you factor in assistant coaches that left another school to go to Temple under Diaz within the last two weeks now they might be out of a job because someone else that takes Temple will want their own coordinators, which will now impact other programs. Factor in Applewhite and Houston, thats another 5+ schools that will be impacted one way or another.

I have only two concerns as it relates to the USM staff this offseason. One, keeping Billings as DC. Finishing #5 in total defense is going to open eyes to other coaches. Need to pay the man to keep him here for at least another season. Same for Scotty Walden. Need to keep him on our staff. The coaches convention is next week in San Antonio and one would hope Mitchell is ahead of this working on keeping this staff in place for another season.

Re: Monken

Saw several places on Twitter where the Jets want to interview Monken for HC job.

Sorry, don't know how to link it from my phone.

That one was overdue. Sark will be on a P5 sideline coaching offense next season. Wouldn't even be surprised if he ends up on the Hurricane sideline or possibly head man at a G5 school......like Houston

I doubt Flamingo Boy has given him authority to spend anything more than stamp money begging for donations to the copier fund.

Agreed. Should have been more direct. Mr. Dawson, the offense genius, hasn’t received  any interest.

He will get an interview with someone. Jack has some solid stats and finished fairly high in a few NCAA rankings. We look at total offense which can be misleading sometimes. For example, Kentucky is always so happy Dawson is gone. They are playing Penn St in a bowl tomorrow I believe. Guess who finished ahead of Kentucky in total offense this season? Hard to believe since we had zero running game but it’s true. Hell, Dawson’s O finished ahead of 10 other bowl teams including Northwestern and Iowa State.
Dawson has the size coming back on the O line and a top qb coming in for his system. If he stays one more season knowing what he has returning it could open another P5 job for him in 2020 vs a G5 job today.

I know a lot of fans would like that. Curley was the hot commodity, then Bower supposedly was. Fedora practically had Giannini lining up job interviews for him. And after all of that horseshit, for Monken to be the guy who gets the big job would be nice.
