Q1 2019 To Do List for AD Mitchell and President Bennett

1)Remove interim tag from Mitchell as AD. Use your “Listening” Tour to formally introduce Mitchell to the USM base. Stop trying to punk the alumni with this hire process and lets move forward starting today. Perception is reality so get on with it and stop insulting your alumni base.

2)You have a spot open on the 2020 schedule still unfilled. Pay money to get a P5 school to come to Hattiesburg or you will have two consecutive seasons with only 5 home games. It can be anyone in the P5. Call Syracuse……call Northwestern…call South Carolina…….hell call Air Force or Army from the G5. That’s about all that’s left that has a spot to fill in 2020. Get it inked and let Mitchell announce it at his new AD presser if it’s a P5 school.

3)Announce the resignations of Doc and Joye by March. Trim your current combined salaries of $525K to $375K. Hire young, hungry, proven coaches from smaller programs until renovation construction commences on RGC. Pointless to pay over $500K when you haven’t made real progress on the facility in decades.

4)Get Hop to announce Scotty Walden as OC and a new contract for Tim Billings.

5)Get Hop and Scotty to announce Jaden Johnson as the starter prior to the spring game. Develop one QB this offseason as “the guy” with Abraham and Whatley fighting over backup.

6)Marketing: Someone get an athletic campaign going with Nick Mullens, Todd Monken, Tori Bowie and Brian Dozier. Have it ready to run during EagleFest.

7)Schedule a presser with Jimmy Buffett during EagleFest where you announce the construction of The Margaritaville Club on top of the South Endzone. Season passes will cost $150 per person, capped at 2,500 passes. The passes include game access and two drinks per game.

1. No Gilbert Jr.
2. We should only have 4 home games. Hit the road for cash and toughening up.
3. Agreed.

Re: Q1 2019 To Do List for AD Mitchell and President Bennett

I would much prefer an outsider as AD.

Paying P5 teams to come to Hattiesburg might have worked if we'd gotten a real stadium expansion. As things stand, 4 or 5 home games should be the norm. It's already been said: money and toughness are the benefits. And it's USM's identity, no matter how hard the ADs of the last 20 years have tried to escape it.

This is probably a good time to look for new basketball coaches. Maybe USM can get someone on the way up to coach the men's team this time.

I agree on Walden / Billings. Lose either one of them and you're in even bigger trouble.

I'd like to see Jaden play early, but if there's one thing you can predict about this staff it's that their QB choices will leave you scratching your head.

As for marketing, adding cool stuff to the stadium, etc., those are great ideas. But I've learned over the years that the department will always half-ass these things. Mike up the head cheerleader, make up a goofy cheer, print up bumper stickers for "our big chance" to bet back at Tulane...

Bring back Reed V. "Pie" TurkPalmer Eustachy.

there's one thing.

Looks like no hope anymore.
