Re: Good Job, Southern Miss Marketing

Watched it on mute (too much noise here already) and it seemed pretty decent, in a bland, hipstery way. Natural hair... meh, everyone's doing that in their ads right now. Not sure how it really sets USM apart from any other college, though.

Could have been good if not for its obvious strong bias.

We still suck bigtime.

I will say this, though: someone should have asked the people who made this ad their honest opinion of Ellis Johnson. We might be in a much better overall position right now if that had happened.

Re: Good Job, Southern Miss Marketing

It was a 2 to 1 ratio of white people to African Americans in that university video. Zero Asian representation and one possible hispanic girl.....one transgender. Women outnumbered men in this video 2 to 1 as well including 4 women all playing pool?

How does this fairly represent our university? Where can I file a complaint?

Hadn't noticed the trans-job. I'll have to watch with a more critical eye.

AAs and women seemed very dominately featured to me.

I called to file a complaint but apparently something else more pressing has come up today and the PR Marketing team is not available right now....

Re: Good Job, Southern Miss Marketing

Small and cowardly in focus, but that's the trend in much of advertising, the minimization and marginalization of Men and Caucasians. This is not random. It reflects poorly on the University, and undoubtedly indicates the preferences of our leadership and the course they've set for it.

Re: Good Job, Southern Miss Marketing

I think it's healthy for a university to have a left-wing student body and faculty but a right-wing alumni base. The administration should be somewhere in between. This is balance, and I think USM is pretty close right now.
