Auburn hands out rings for mythical 1983 football championship

That was the year Pat Dye wimped out and went for the tie in the Sugar Bowl, hoping his team's #1 ranking would hold up. It did not, in either of the polls that mattered back then, and Miami (FL) fans mailed him "Pat Tie" neckties in thanks.

I have not seen anything official, but Chuck Oliver and Matt Chernoff on 680AM are saying that they had a ceremony recently celebrating a "1983 National Championship," complete with rings for any player who cared to attend.  lol
