Maybe

"I don't think being in the 6th best conference is too bad."
"Look for Crickets Robertson to be one of the first 64 players chosen in the draft."
"Went to Starkville and came within one bad throw of taking the series."

Re: UK ticket sales

Hard to say from the ticket site. The south corner of the east upper deck (sections JJ and KK) is sold out. I almost never see those sections get filled. At the same time, there are still sections with "many" tickets, which doesn't bode well.

Technically, JJ/KK are reserved for students. So that's why they aren't listed as available.

Students try to cram into the lower level for big games. That's why you had 36k+ at the '15 State game but still some empty seats in the upper parts of JJ/KK. Some sat in the lower level of JJ/KK but most tried to squeeze in J or K. When MSU comes here in 2024, they need to sell 38-39k tickets.

Re: UK ticket sales

So here are the previous 10 home games we've played against BCS/P5 completion in the BCS/Playoff era. Wide range in attendance.

I know it was supposed to be played in September, but it's pretty funny/sad that we had only 27k against a top 5 Cal team.

Sure felt like more people were there. I was at that game, and the atmosphere was great.

Re: UK ticket sales

I'm very surprised by the Cal attendance figures.  I recall an awesome atmosphere but was it an odd day or time?

It was a Saturday night. You've got to remember how uniquely depressing the 2004 season was, though. We started 4-0. Beat Nebraska at their place. Got into the top 25. Got beaten by Bama and dropped out. Got back in, only to get skull-dragged by Cincy at home and then drop off the face of the earth. People talk about the 2000 Louisville game; the 2004 Cincy game was the same sad story recycled four years later. Leading up to the Cal game, we'd lost something like three out of four games, all to shitty CUSA teams. So most of us weren't in the mood for football.

That season really pissed me off. You beat Nebraska and then get destroyed by Cincy at home? Typical example of CUSA just sucking the life out of us.

Re: UK ticket sales

I had removed that from memory...I remember walking out of there completely depressed after Cincy.  I actually said to Son of Dixie that "damn, we used to own our conference, we suck!"  That began an 1 1/2 hour trip back to the Coast discussing all the suckness.

I blocked it out for a long time, too.

Southern Miss just doesn't belong in a conference. The ones that will have us are just depressing, and it wears on the players and fans to scrap with those nobodies. We're the Lone Eagles.

What's SoD up to nowadays? Remember him from the EP days. Still follow USM or did he just give up?

Re: UK ticket sales

After being the biggest "Ernie Eagle" homer I'd ever met, he finally lost his mind with four events:
1. choosing Hawaii
2. hiring EJ
3. hiring Bennett over someone with a proper resume
4. the one-year Hammond contract

I've offered free tickets every year since and he told me he will not step foot on campus again until some serious shit changes.  I've invited him here but will get a scathing diatribe sometime tomorrow for doing so! LOL  I can't say that I disagree with him because he's correct on all accounts.

I'll stay on his azz as the season progresses.  He is a walking history book regarding USM football and the Saints too.

Been thinking about adding a Saints board.
