Chevron Chicken on a Stick

LSU v Ole Miss.....after 10 years the only thing Coach O misses in Oxford is a chicken on a stick from a lady at the local Exxon/Chevron......

Which begs the question.....best hole in the wall or campus hidden food gem? Been to several across the SEC but might have to nominate TCU and a place called the Velvet Taco....they have a Rotisserie chicken taco with white queso.....with a side of their crisp tots with egg and avocado cream.....solid.

Tuscaloosa...Archibald's BBQ.
I had it 10 years ago, and I'm not sure he is still operating it (maybe his son has a joint now, not sure). Anyway, best sauce I've ever had.

it was much better than that dreamland shit. a prime example of over hyped food. worst bbq I've ever had. the sauce was like water. a nasty and unclean place. I remember some rich lady and her husband eating next to us. she was wearing a fucking mink coat with diamonds on her fingers and eating the ribs in a dainty way as if she was the fucking queen of england. it was funny as hell.

Sam & Andy's Deli......Cumberland Ave. (the strip)......Knoxville.
I graduated from UT-K in '75.  Lived off this place and it's Volburgers and fries for years.
Went back for a game in '94....Walked in to Sam & Andy's, and the barman, George from someplace like Serbia, says...."Hey Larry, you want same ??"  Ten minutes later I'm served Volburger and fries with a regular Coors.  He also brought over a check I had written for $12.55 in '75 due to insufficient funds.  After laughing (he wasn't), I handed him 30 bucks, and was told, "You come back again and have great day".

Re: Chevron Chicken on a Stick

Finally heard Orgeron's actual quote on the radio this morning. What a loser! Watch him string LSU along for a few years by winning just enough big games to stick around.

Re: Chevron Chicken on a Stick

Orgeron was asked if he had any fond memories of Oxford and the only thing he mentioned was this gas station that sells chicken-on-a-stick. He went on and on about it. It was probably 45 seconds but it felt longer.

The dude got to be the most important man in town for a few years, and got paid millions of dollars for it, and the only nice thing he can say is "nice gas station, assholes!"

How about this: "Oxford is a beautiful town and I was given a great opportunity by the people there. I learned a lot there and there are things I'd do differently in hindsight."

Oxford isn't pretty? I've actually never been.

Starkville isn't pretty.
