Re: Bowl Watch

Indy is a much better bowl. In other words, one that CUSA doesn't have a tie-in to.

I think the appeal of Shreveport is that it's a bowl that wasn't made up 5 minutes ago. I can see why people would want that instead of a bid to the "Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl," which just sounds silly.

As for New Orleans, I don't get it. Yeah, it's an hour drive instead of four or five, but it seems lazy to just keep going there on that basis. Guess people are just afraid of driving.

Re: Bowl Watch

If it's a good opponent I don't care where it is. we're playing pretty good ball now and everyone is finally healthy. If it's not a quality team then let the kids go somewhere nice they have never been before. like the bahamas or florida where they can have fun on the beach and in the water for a week. There is not one kid on the team that wants to go back to New Errlins again for a week of WW2 museum and cemetery ghost tours and crappy crap like that.

Re: Bowl Watch

So, now — and for the next week — the questions will be which bowl game invitation will the Golden Eagles accept and who will they face. Well, if Saturday is any indication, there’s a strong chance a post-Christmas Day date with the Independence Bowl may very well be in the offing.

Mike McCarthy, a longtime member of the selection committee for the 11th-oldest bowl game, was in Huntington, West Virginia, this weekend to — at the very least — converse with and gauge the interest of both Southern Miss and Marshall officials. McCarthy told the Hattiesburg American Saturday that discussions with both programs went well.

But odds are the visit with the Thundering Herd brass is a courtesy meeting, at worst, and a contingency plan, at best.

“The Independence Bowl has a very strong interest in Southern Miss,” McCarthy said.

Serious question....

A)What better Bowl option will 6-6 FSU have than Indy?

2)Why would Indy pick anyone over FSU?

Re: Bowl Watch

FSU is obviously the bigger name team, but Duke is much more beatable. Yeah, FSU has struggled but they’re still crazy talented. Duke is more talented than us but it’s not a huge margin like us compared to the Noles.
