Louisiana-Lafayette

About to fire Hudspeth after seven seasons. They are paying him one million per season. ULL lost to App St and Arky St by a combined 110-17 this season.
I remember when he was the flavor of the month in the coaching world but I can’t remember his signature win over his seven years at ULL. I do remember they got hit by the NCAA for paying players under his watch.

Yeah, Hudspeth was supposedly a hot commodity about 5 years ago. Can't recall him being linked to any job opening, though. Sometimes the schools themselves know things that don't get publicized.

He was the "HC in waiting" amongst the Starkpatch group at one time.

Guess he should have waited.

Re: Louisiana-Lafayette

I recall many wanting him the last few cycles we had starting with ej and maybe even when we were courting Larry.

I think he would have done OK at USM. He would have been better than EJ but probably somewhat worse than Fedora.

He might be a candidate for the USM OC job if it were open.

Ricky Bustle without the drink???

Bustle did recruit Kyle Sloter so in my book he may have been the best coach on ej's staff.  roll

Didn't even think about that. Even Bustle had his heyday when he worked for Beamer. He and Mike Vick sure have taken a tumble since then.

Rickey is currently the OC at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, GA. He had a job at NC A&T for two years but apparently he either quit or was fired. Not sure what's up with that. A&T won 7 and 9 games in his two seasons there.

Re: Louisiana-Lafayette

The rumor is Canada to ULL. It would be a bit of a gamble. He's never been a head coach. He's been a coordinator for about 15 years. The upside is real, though. Canada knows a lot about offense, and not just one system.

There's also a connection there: the Cajuns originally came from Canada. They will have to look past the fact that they were involuntarily expelled.

I learned that from Justin Wilson.
