Is it your first day here? He don’t know chit.

Some of you are too young or dumb to remember the craptronics board we had at the Rock that lasted all of 3 years.

It was first gen Tech and we were one of the first to get one. So.....

I remember them installing it during the Texas A&M game........about two hours before the storms rolled in.

So what dumb dumb, You think they've got better? What if I told you these we got were leftovers they had in storage for 4 years. And we got them for a bargain price. How else you think we could afford those boards when we don't even have money to fix the stupid speakers at the Rock? You ever think about that, No you don't, you only think about yourself.

I remember that board. The problem with it was that it way too small. It was a joke and I said so. If it broke after a few years, that was a "blessing in the skies."

These new video boards, while not huge, are at least appropriately sized for a basketball arena.

Re: New video boards at RGC

let's not do this.....it makes too much sense....it's not like Ray Guy is punting in the dome.....

our administration fuck up a wet dream waking up to two tongues in action....

also, still have the high school gym scoreboard....that keeps the TTT rolling in spades.....

Re: New video boards at RGC

Looks like Wichita State used a lot more steel in the dome part than USM did. I have read, but cannot confirm, that the roof at RGC just can't hold something like the Diamondvision thing that Ray Guy punted into.

Maybe as LED / LCD video boards get lighter, such a thing will become more practical at RGC. Personally, I liked Lucky's Mini-Model a lot, but if the department really had $40 million to throw around, I think it might be better to put, say, $15 million into RGC and save the rest for football.

Same with Tech, it would seem.

It's been a while since I've checked out RGC in person, but I don't think there's anything like that massive steel skeleton to work with.

I haven't performed a structural integrity test....however, the eye test by itself cries bs on that fallacy.....there's plenty of steel that could be added to in cross section, to support today's offering of the same.....all it would take is two horizontal beams spanning the required distance to the verticals on each end with cables and structural supports attached at equidistant spans to the existing steel supporting the roof...

would that be aesthetically pleasing?....prolly not....but then again, neither is the dungeon that is the Yurt....nor is the OSB duck blind seating...

as the cost and weight of tech/materials consistently improve for the consumer, it simply appears to be another half arsed TTT move instead of funding a long term solution....

but you're right......it's better than the projection screen that nobody could make out.....that bs was like watching a '60s homemade movie 30 yrs later....

Sounds like a good play on USM's part. It kind of reminds me about what I said about the M.M. Roberts sound system. Got to be resourceful.

I've been in Atlanta's stadium and it's no Superdome. Not even close.

LMAO. I'm guessing that's auto-corrected? Either way, it's gold.

I have said same for years . The shape of the structure lends itself to great strength by the shape of the roof . If more steel is needed for reinforcement it could easily be done . We need people running the show with some common sense who do not take no for an easy answer .
