"As I was surfing ESPN’s web site recently, I was struck by the college basketball game it picked as the best in the nation on Thursday night.
Hint: it wasn’t Northwestern at Wisconsin, No. 16 Wichita State at Temple or Creighton at No. 1 Villanova.
It was Middle Tennessee at Old Dominion.
That this was a critical Conference USA game came as no surprise. Middle (17-5), which held off ODU 66-59, had a sterling No. 27 ranking in the RPI and has beaten Mississippi and Vanderbilt.
Had ODU won, the Monarchs (16-5) would have moved into a first-place tie with Western Kentucky. And the games between these two teams have been competitive in recent years.
So can anyone explain why, at a time when C-USA should be promoting its best teams, this wasn’t on traditional TV?"
