Solid, yet curious hire

Hopson brings in a ton of experience on offense by hiring Les Koenning, UABs OC from last season. They finished 5th in CUSA in scoring last season but were horrid in The Bahamas Bowl. Not sure what exactly he will be coaching on offense.....unless this is the first sign of a possible change with Dawson.
Koenning was OC at Bama, Texas AM, Ms St, USA, UAB and coached WRs at Texas four years ago.

Re: Solid, yet curious hire

We're transitioning back to a run-first offense so an "old-School" guy makes sense.  I spent about 45 minutes talking to one of the offensive coaches last week and he said to expect a different look next year.  Anderson, who was recruited as a QB, is bumping 260 lbs with 4.6 speed is transitioning to tailback to add to the power run game.  He said Rodriquez can "spin it" from the QB position and that Abraham is the real deal and there will be some serious competition at QB in the spring.

What about Keon?

"We won 8 games with 2 good QB's last year, but the starting position is up for grabs"
I hope that's coach speak for "We backed into 8 wins but now it's time to get serious about a quarterback

while I somewhat agree, when the bulk of your schedule consists of 13th grade competition and your depth is such where time spent on the D field becomes an issue late, the no huddle/aerial battle becomes a bit of an issue for schools like ours.....that's shit'll bite ya in the arse.....

ref: hair gel and badford's losses when scoring over 50.....

we call all argue semantics.....however, at the end of the day it  is who is behind center and what is he capable of handling under the skull cap....

that's what every coach has to work around....
