The Tiger is Awake.....

This time his comeback has some truth behind it.....

Tiger in the lead halfway through Rd 3 of the Valspar. All of the legit golfers were in this tournament so don’t let the non major fool you...

I thought this was a thread about Wallner’s bat.

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

see the time stamp......I knew it the first time I saw him play this year......if you know who I am, stinkfist understands that game....

the 'yip chips' are gone, his belly is no longer flat, and he's free wheeling through the hitting zone.....toss in his putting that is unparalleled in tempo and confidence, and you have a 42 yr. old that is getting ready to do some damage.....

that's a shame....

there's many a similarity between the bat and ball vs. the club and ball vs. the stick and the puck vs. the foot and ball vs. the strings and the fingers.......................................vs. enjoying them all.....

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

Golf needs Tiger and Tiger needs golf. Rory and Jordan are simply not enough. Should make The Masters a little more entertaining at the very least.

I've told this story more than once....so I'll make it short....

Jack was the one that inspired me before we moved to the 'burg....and I was lucky enough to be 'high fiving' his son when he won the '86 Masters in a packed house in the 19th hole at HCC.....if you were there, you know what I'm not feeding you bullshit....

HCC was my playground in ways most can only imagine during the day or sometimes under the moonlit night with a hotty toddy.....what a blast that was....

I've always enjoyed watching individual sports. I find them more enjoyable to play as well. Guess I'm not much of a team player.

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

Anyone who loves sports should understand the draw of Tiger. He is simply the best there has ever been at an incredibly hard sport. A sport that is incredibly hard to stay on top of.

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

Golf has always thrived on characters. Jordan Speith, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, etc. are all good golfers, but they're pretty bland. There's not a Trevino, Couples, Stadler, or Daly in that group.

Tiger at least inspires opinions in people. Sergio winning The Masters was good for the game, too. I'll take a thimble full of Sergio-vs.-Tiger over a pint of Rory-vs.-Jordan any day of the week.

This is not to say that I don't want to see those guys competing for championships. My favorite golfer of all time is Tom Watson, and he's about as dynamic as a bowl of Campbell's soup and a rerun of Murder She Wrote. There needs to be a little pepper in that soup to make it good, though.

Another good one is Angel Cabrera, the chain-smoking, duck-walking, self-taught pride of the Argentine working class. In 2009, Angel out-dueled Kenny Perry at Augusta in an unlikely battle royale. Later that year, Tom Watson came within an 8' put of winning the Open Championship. Definitely one of my favorite golf seasons.

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

Tiger sinks it from 43ft on 17 then just misses from about the same distance on 18. Finished one shot behind the leaders.

Masters will be exciting next month.

I watched every bit of it today....when he buried that putt on 17 I couldn't help but think of Juan and some "Pete Taylor magic" once again....

he's definitely gaining shape moving into April.....he's playing at Bay Hill next week too.....

he's drooling for the 'eye of the Tiger' days.......it's too much fun watching him when he's hungry.....

Re: The Tiger is Awake.....

Final round of The Valspar on Sunday tv ratings beat those of three majors from last year. Only The Masters had a higher rating.

The power of Tiger.

Makes me wonder what proportion of people are pulling for him versus pulling against him versus just want to watch.

People are pulling for him now. The fear of him over taking Jacks major count is over and now they just want him back in the hunt again. If he wins a major or two people will be back to rooting against him but the dynamics of his return have those that follow golf in his corner.....for now....
