another TTT moment in USM sports history....

Being on the hosting bubble what did we do, lose the series this weekend, first all year right?  Couldn't have come at a worse time.  Dear god we are so predictable.

It was predicted here. I don't see it so much as TTT, just a mediocre team just getting exposed. The media gave this team too much credit because of 2 or 3 genuine stars. Beyond them, there's not much else, especially with Powers sitting out.

Re: another TTT moment in USM sports history....

I hear you......

Truth be told hosting was officially dead when we lost to 70+RPI Tulane at home. Outside of some nice streaks that ended this past weekend losing 2/3 to La Tech didn’t do much of anything else. We fell a total of 5 spots in the latest D1 poll to #14. This team is not worthy of a top 15 team regardless of what the “experts” say. We are a lock for a 2 or 3 seed in a regional even if we took two games against Tech. We will still win the CUSA championship this weekend At Marshall.

Re: another TTT moment in USM sports history....

both you guys are right.  I was hoping for better but yeah, even I have said this team really isn't that great, they are solid, but not great.  Great teams don't lose the midweek games we've lost.    We'll go to a regional but I'm guessing it's two and out.

Re: another TTT moment in USM sports history....

The one thing about this inconsistent team is they can beat anyone. We swept a now decent State team with two other pitchers not named Sandlin. We held La Tech to 1 run with a pitcher not named Sandlin. We have power hitters. We are the team you don’t want to face in a regional because of the unknown of who is going to show up. I am almost convinced you don’t start Sandlin game 1 of a regional so he can pitch against the host in game 2. It limits his potential for an appearance later in the tournament but I believe it’s our best chance to hold position in the winners bracket.

A distinct possibility.
