No, it's bullshit. Gilbert's been skulking around Bumblestump, AL his whole life. He doesn't know anyone in Minnesota except a couple of tour guides and a chipmunk.

If you want to see real future USM opponents, check this site out:

The good: State at home in 2025, a home-and-home with Tulane, a hypothetical home-and-home with BYU that has been floating around for years, and a nice smattering of SEC away games.

The bad: stupid road games at places like Troy, Liberty, and South Alabama.

Worse than stupid home games vs. Monroe, JSU- Main Campus, and SUNWACUSAns?

At this point, the CUSA home slate plus maybe a SWAC team at home is more than adequate. I do not understand the fascination with padding the home schedule with Troy, ULM, USA, etc. when a single trip to Auburn or Tuscaloosa pays like 10% of the entire budget. This is especially true now that those SBC teams expect home-and-homes. Gilbert should tell them to pound sand and call his Vol buddies for a game at Neyland.

Good God

I meant adequate as in "good enough to satisfy whatever urge I have to watch football in Hattiesburg against teams actually willing to go there"

Look at 2016 at home:
Troy
Savannah State
Rice
Marshall
Charlotte
LA Tech

Did you really need Troy and Savannah state on top of the 4 C-USA games? USM didn't even beat Troy. Even if they had, it's just fluff. Take those open dates and go make some money.

That Vols loss last year was pathetic. I’ll even say a Bower team would have handed them a double digit L. Monken and hair gel would have beaten them without a doubt. Losing to UAB at home by 18 only to follow it with that performance against the worst team in Vol history.....That loss was final nail in Hops hope chest to either making it or not at USM.

Which is exactly where any "more money" would go.

It was an eminently winnable game. The 1997 and 2000 games were, too.

Hopson isn't here to beat Tennessee, though. He just wants to chew sunflower seeds, draw a dentist's salary, go to Valium Bowls, and share some homespun wisdom with with Deputy Fife for as long as we'll have him.

If this season turns out like I think it will, then Hop might actually see the leaves at Camp Knowattamean start to turn orange, his lazy days at the swimmin' hole grown suddenly shorter.

If he can engineer another season of Mustard Buzzard A La Poydras, though, then we will just have to put up with that much more of him.

It needs to go to one place only: better coaches.

And who, pray tell, would evaluate and hire these "better coaches" ? Goblet and Flamingo Boy?

There's a whole committee. Maureen Ryan is on it.

Re: Datoo Datoo !! Come back Datooooooo !!!

This is not that hard, it really isnt......You cant change your conf slate unless you go independent. You can't schedule the P5 at home and you need cash and only the P5 pay. We need two money games or whore games per season because we are poor. As of today you have the following openings:

2020 1 money game
2021 2 games (1 needs to be a money game)
2022 2 games (both need to be money games)
2023 2 games (1 needs to be a money game)

You have already maxed out Auburn and Bama as paydays. Florida has openings each of those seasons. South Carolina has openings 3 out of 4 seasons....Texas AM, Arkansas, Pitt, Fla St, Kansas, TCU, OK St., etc..........

Schedule your two for zeros with programs we have played historically and get your old conf mates to do a 1-1 or 2-2 like Cinci, Tulsa, UH, SMU, Memphis, etc. to fill in the non payday games as home games.

Hell I went to USM when we only had 4 home games. I supported them then I will support them again if they have to go down to 5 and add even an additional whore game. I had just as much fun if not more cheering on the Eagles in person in Gainesville, Blacksburg, Raleigh, Happy Valley, Oklahoma, etc.....

That cash can stay within the department and 2 million additional per season can do wonders on our budget.
