I know Hammond had a plan cooking to buy out EJ as early as the Louisville game that year.

There's my info/hearsay contribution.

I used to park a red '78 Cutlass S in that lot. This was circa 8 years A.S. (After Slacker).

Actually I think he transferred to another school and had a pretty successful career there. I'm not going to look it up right now but maybe tomorrow sometime I'll look it up to send a link.

He did play a lot at Minne-sorta State after he left USM. He's playing in the CFL now and doing well: https://nationalpost.com/pmn/sports-pmn … stampeders .

The stories of "Sunshine" Lloyd and Kyle Sloter do tend to confirm that there was some raw talent on those 2012-2014 teams. Coaching makes all the difference. Coaching football is hard, and a good football coach is worth every penny.

A key point to remember is that we had an interim president while the ej shitshow was playing out.

A wealthy donor offered the interim president to completely fund the buy outs of the football coaches, under one condition. That GJH be given a 4 year contract. The interim would not agree saying it would not be fair to the new president.

No one can predict what would have happened if the offer had been accepted, but the unintended consequences that resulted have been devastating financially for the university. At least $50 million in future donations, that were being negotiated, were discontinued.

The intersection between business and academia is a slippery slope.

Oui have/had fans with $50M sitting around for "fun" to use on USM athletics?

Re: OT: FAU Facilities

My pipe dream would be to demo the stands at the Rock and make an athletic facility / indoor practice area out of it all. Then go build a new stadium at the old Van Hook site. Build some roadway and infrastructure to support growth. Have enough room to potentially build future facilities for other sports...

Just pipe dreaming here though.
