New Changes in College Baseball

The Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved allowing coaches to have two challenges per game in Division I Baseball — if the technology is available. Also passed:

• You now may not make a move to be intentionally HBP. If you do, a strike is called.

• Teams are now limited to six defensive conferences per game.

• Any ruling on an intentionally hit batter cannot be argued.

• The third to first pickoff move has been outlawed in college baseball

• Pitchers will no longer be required to throw four pitches for intentional walks. You may just choose to intentionally walk a batter.

• Defensive players not allowed to block base w/o ball

DEFEATED:

• A proposal to make a 20-second pitch clock mandatory in all of Division I Baseball was rejected.

• Expanding the 20-second pitch click with runners on base was rejected.

Some are obvious.  What about just standing there?

Good

• Any ruling on an intentionally hit batter cannot be argued.

But they will be.

• The third to first pickoff move has been outlawed in college baseball

Good again.  Seems we were the only ones who ever fell for it anyway.

Dislike, even if it bites us in the ass.

• Defensive players not allowed to block base w/o ball

Stealing second just got easier.

The umpire can start calling balls to fix this.

• Expanding the 20-second pitch click with runners on base was rejected.

See above.
