Abraham

I know it's early in the game, and I know it's Jackson St.... But I really like the way this kid looks.

Re: Abraham

He is doing well. Has all day. Couldn’t see over the one d lineman that is like 6’6 on that one sack. His TD was a perfect throw.

It's JSU, plus his resume and the fact that we were all very familiar with the alternatives and their limitations.

I once said that Griggs did a good job of protecting the ball, but if you go back and look at the box score of Kentucky last year that wasn't the case for that game at least.

Re: Abraham

Some general observations......Abraham hit some nice corner passes for touchdowns. Clearly the extra timing routes with Quez paid off yesterday. Feel good for the kid that he finally got his D1 start in a big performance.

Quez was solid minus the early mistake on the punt. Great boost for his confidence. Per Hop he has an ankle contusion that shouldn't impact him beyond a few days in practice this week.

Can't say it enough that getting to 8-9 wins is going to come down to the leg of Parker. Guy hit a 46 yarder and accounted for 13 points yesterday. He is going to win us some close games.

Tate was commanding with running the offense. Wish we got to see him throw it more but he looks comfortable working the huddle and at the line reading the defense and getting our guys in place. Would love to see him as our #2. He had 40+ yards running as well.

Steve Anderson looks really uncomfortable carrying the rock. It looks like he could end up with a few turnovers if he faces a more aggressive and sound defense. He looks the part of a converted QB/TE. More carries and more experience will help him. Use him for more short yardage.

Mosley was impressive. Not sure if it was him or Tate that failed on the communication with the fumble but outside of that man that kid looked good.

Tez needs to stop reading the press clippings and just focus on his game. The "In and Out" looked more like Burger King yesterday.

George Payne....not sure what to say. Looks like his injury has ruined his confidence and career. Wish him well.

Marcelo. Looked like he was beating himself up on the sideline when Tate was in. He just didnt take advantage of the opportunity. He has historically lofted his passes and it cost him last night with two bad picks.

DQ Thomas has some swagger. Too many guys to compliment but it was a great opponent to get our young secondary going. Four turnovers was impressive.

Hop had them ready. Only 4 penalties.

Hold him out against Auburn and that won't be a problem.

when he transfers to Tulane, that will no longer be a problem.

the one thing I would add is the amount of kickoffs that saw the EZ......that one's been a pet peeve of mine for sometime now.....

there's a YUGE difference when the opposition always starts with 75 yards to the finish line vs. < 75.....

Re: Abraham

After last week's game, my main thought was, "this guy's good; only question is how he deals with pressure."

Oh frickin' well...

Re: Abraham

It’s his second game and his O line and backs are not helping his learning curve. He had some Cuban like throws and lofted the ball a few times which surprised me. Kid deserves a season to figure out what he is made of. He will be battle tested every single week since he doesn’t have a balanced offense. Maybe 4-5 wins.....

Maybe

There were people who were saying 2 or 3 at various points last season.  It's always been a roller coaster with Hopson, and this will not be the last game that turns out unexpectedly, in either direction.

That said, you look at the empty stands, and it's clear people are done with it. Monken lost 25 games in 3 years and people loved him. By and large, though, he won the games people expected him to win. Hard to see myself ever saying that about Hopson.

Re: Abraham

If he's squirrelly again and we lose the next game, gotta go with Tate against Rice - PERIOD.

I am curious to see how well he throws. We know he can scramble and has a slight height advantage. He needs reps regardless because I don’t see Jack making it thru the next few games without getting banged up.

Re: Abraham

I can't think of any QB that could play well behind that line or with those shit play calls.  I'm actually impressed with this kid under the circumstances.  Bless his heart for drinking Hop's snake oil.  I wonder how Paul Gainer is feeling right now for coming here instead of the P5 schools that recruited him!

If Quez and Jaylond keep developing and you add some experience to the OL that allows a running game in 2019 with Mosley being the guy......and 6'5 Sam Saxton ends up honoring his commitment behind center......

Re: Abraham

Dude, with the direction we are headed at them moment, we're going to lose all of the good recruits.  Whoever they may be.

At least two people have said that, but I don't see it. Maybe I'm dumb, and I know I suck at team sports, but I never sweated too much over watching the starters fuck up. Just saw it as an opportunity.

Re: Abraham

I hope you're right but I don't think our problems are the players.  I think Losey sucks and Hop sucks and Dawson gets half a pass just because he's not a pussy and speaks candidly.
