CUSA Halloween

I had to take in two Halloween events this weekend. One was absolutely legit with a big budget that included a petting zoo, pony rides for kids, pumpkin painting, SWAT cars, Firetrucks, sports mascots, hotdogs, popcorn and legit candy. The second one, a church run gathering, was what you would expect...... Some fairly weak candy was given out at the church event, including some that I would bet was recycled from Halloweens past like:

Mary Jane
Bit O Honey
Necco
Toostie Rolls(biggest candy fail ever created)
unwrapped candy pumpkins and candy corn
Smarties

What are the college rankings for Halloween candy?

Bama and the upper SEC would clearly be Fun Size Snickers/Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. Lower SEC teams would be those extremely small peanut butter snicker bites that seem to be barely a candy but are worth it in the end if you are able to find two or three.....

ACC, Big 10 are probably TWIX (left or right), M&M's and Three Musketeers

PAC 12 and BIG 12......Kit Kat, Milky Way or those plain Hershey bars...... Not bad but not outstanding. You will still eat them......once everything else is gone

Now it gets a little challenging.....

AAC......Starburst or Skittles. Kids don't grab them in the bowl unless the legit stuff is all gone. Starbursts can't stand alone since they are small and can't challenge Reeses or Snickers on an even playing field but they get included from time to time in the same "candy" bowl because the rules make them but they NEVER are included in the same package from the store although they want to be included........ Dads don't want them even if its been two weeks since Halloween and momma hasn't been to the store to buy anything. You are better off just passing them over and waiting for the baked goods that are coming at Thanksgiving.

CUSA......Kind of that candy that doesn't have a brand associated with the wrapping like those bunch of little colorful, candy-coated balls that you pop out of a little clear unbranded tube into your mouth. That orange and black wrapped taffy is another one. But in that mix of generic candy sits one piece that you see it, you know what it is, you use to like it when you were younger, but you don't go out of your way to find it or eat it. Every 5-7 Halloweens that pass you end up eating it because it got mixed in by accident with some of those Kit Kats or plain chocolate Hershey bars......you know what I am talking about. Its the Southern Miss of candy, DOTS! You use to be able to get them at a movie theater back in the 80's and 90's. The packaging is still legit in that box that you have to work to open. Lamont just loves those DOTS because they come in so many different colors although he would like to see the yellow dot get the same quantity count as the green, orange or red DOTS but for now, he will give the yellow DOT special privileges to make them feel superior like yellow DOT Day at the home opener.......Dilbert LOVES DOTS because they are vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, and kosher! He is concerned about the DOTS future beyond being just a candy. He takes DOTS on special trips, out in the woods, where he discusses the DOTS feelings about life and social issues......DOTS date back to 1945, and even had a few special years like when they came out with Tropical Dots to 2003 and Sour Dots in 2011. For the most part, DOTS are forgotten. Starbursts and Skittles have made the DOTS irrelevant these days. Maybe one day, DOTS will have a comeback. Something that will make those older parents remember that DOTS were legit back in the day. For now, you might not even find them in your kids candy bowl the day after Halloween.......but maybe one day you will again......maybe.....

Re: CUSA Halloween

CUSA 1.0 was that little cheese and crackers snack with the red stick.

CUSA now is box raisins.

Re: CUSA Halloween

Reese's is unveiling a candy converter vending machine that debuts tomorrow allowing you to trade in your unwanted candy for Reese's Cups........

Maybe someone will create one for unwanted football programs.......
