OT: Roku

After retiring from AT&T my employee discount turned to garbage so dropped DirectTv.

On Roku and trying out Sling Tv. They don’t carry CBS SN. I see Roku has CBS but not seeing CBS SN. Anyone know if I can grab it somewhere?

Re: OT: Roku

Hulu Live TV has CBSSN, I think, and you can watch that on Roku if you subscribe.

Looking forward to seeing the basketball team on CBSSN later today.

Thanks.

I see it on all of them except Sling. Trying out Sling for the month.

Ace,

Been using Hulu Live for a year now. $40 gets you all you need. Switched from Directv to Hulu and I saved $1,000 a year.

I will look at it. What I don't care for is my Roku seems to drop back to start often. Probably old. I am not crazy about the slowness and the directory of Sling. It will be an adjustment. I know from working at AT&T this is the way that providers want to go because of the portable devices. Hopefully there are many improvements. I miss Direct TV big time but not triple the payment.

Agree on all counts when it comes to the Roku. It's a good device, but the forced restarts, slowness, etc. can be really infuriating. People (younger than me?) have grown very tolerant of that sort of thing. It sends my blood pressure right through the roof.

Re: OT: Roku

I have Apple TV on my main tv that hosts the Hulu app on it. Other TVs I have use a $20 Chromecast device connected via HDMI so I just use the Hulu app on my phone or iPad and cast whatever I want to watch to the tv. Chromecast allows you to control the television audio from your device as well so you don’t need to use a tv remote. Took my wife a little time to adjust from using a Directv remote but she was good to go after a few weeks and hasn’t looked back.

It's no replacement for cable TV. It's very clunky in comparison.
