Buster Douglas

Is our new OC from Blakes staff at Arky St. He was the OC for them the past two seasons. They finished #17 in total offense last year, finishing with over 6,000 yards of total offense and 46 offensive TD's.

Seems like the perfect hire for a school with no budget. Good job, Hop

Re: Buster Douglas

He had been making $210K the last three years at Ark St. Guessing his salary must be jumping a minimum of 30% to take this opening.

Re: Buster Douglas

Arky St also finished #10 in total offense in 2017 under Buster. Finished with 5,937 total yards and 55 touchdowns.

Last year he put up 400 yards on the Bama defense. Bad news was he only got 7 points on them.

On a positive note, he did put up 31 points on La Monroe last year and 67 points on them in 2017......bad news we don't play La Monroe again this season.....

Re: Buster Douglas

Disregard that salary increase......he was apparently fired by Blake after the bowl game loss to Nevada. He will gladly accept a salary of $125-$150K

Reading more on the Red Wolves it appears Blake still had control of the offense and play calling even though they had Buster on staff.

Sounds "convenient", and rankings mean nothing unless you weight the competition, same as ours.

Re: Buster Douglas

Truth be told we don’t know who he is. Reading the Wolves Den fan forum the offense was all Blake. In fact, when Blake hired Busters replacement he officially gave up his involvement with the offense stating he had too many plates in the air with trying to run the offense while dealing with family issues. Don’t know if Blake and Buster had too much friction and he was let go but Buster was definitely a fall guy for Blake.

Re: Buster Douglas

College Scoop also announced that Tyrone Nix is back to Ole Miss as the LB coach and Fedora has officially accepted the Analyst gig at Texas.

Pete Golding (DB coach @ USM for Monken's last two years) will be DC at Alabama.

OC will be Steve Sarkisian.

Re: Buster Douglas

Could have had Art Briles for a song for 2 years to teach Walden.

Hired a guy who was fired by Ark. St.

Re: Buster Douglas

First thing I thought about as well. Hop probably had a few known names in the mix like Meechum and maybe Applewhite. I even question the timing of our hire and Fedora accepting a new grad assistant role. Same exact day in the middle of February seems like a very random coincidence for LFed and Hop to make official changes. Maybe they even shared a Red Bull and talked about it.

Re: Buster Douglas

Need to give this guy the benefit. He was in the mix for the Georgia Southern HC job two seasons ago. He played the game as a QB and was 47-6 as a starter. Was the QB coach for the Div 2 national champs. He developed 8th year QB Brent Stockstill during his record breaking season and has never lost to ULM. We all appreciate what Blake brought to USM and this guy had two seasons with him learning and helping with two top 20 total offense finishes.

I always thought Tyson's attempt to say Douglas got a long count were laughable, cheap, and inappropriate. Douglas was practically counting along with the ref waiting for him to get to 8. When Tyson went down, you could tell he had no idea where he was for a second or two.

Douglas beat the ever-living crap out of Tyson. That was almost certainly the most memorable individual sports performance of my lifetime. The only thing I can remember that came close was done by a freakin' horse.

Re: Buster Douglas

...only reason Tyson lost was because of that Robin Givens bitch that was fucking his head up leading up to that fight.
