Auburn hands out rings for mythical 1983 football championship

That was the year Pat Dye wimped out and went for the tie in the Sugar Bowl, hoping his team's #1 ranking would hold up. It did not, in either of the polls that mattered back then, and Miami (FL) fans mailed him "Pat Tie" neckties in thanks.

I have not seen anything official, but Chuck Oliver and Matt Chernoff on 680AM are saying that they had a ceremony recently celebrating a "1983 National Championship," complete with rings for any player who cared to attend.  lol


Bring back Reed V. "Pie" TurkPalmer Eustachy.

Why stop there.....Bowdens team went undefeated so when is that championship ceremony scheduled?

That darn UCF started all this participation trophy crap.....
