I'm sure I missed something, but where is adams tonight?  still in the doghouse over his galactically dumb play in the UAB game?

"Leg injury" announced, so far as I can tell, today.

That description can mean anything from a sprained ankle to a full-on Teddy Bridgewater tear-jerker. Who knows?

Re: USM @ UTSA football: game thread

Easy pitch-and-catch TD for UTSA, over the head of Barnes who's in for (ejected) Showers.

5 minutes remain in the third quarter.

I have now lost faith in Hopson. I like him as a person but he’s no head coach material. I respectfully acknowledge my stupidity in ever thinking he could get it done.

Just a friendly reminder this is the 77th ranked defense we are playing......

I honestly think he’s built a decent roster while dealing with a lot of challenges. He doesn’t seem to be capable of utilizing the talent on a consistent basis.

I do not believe in going for 2 in a 12-point game or a game in the third quarter.

Re: USM @ UTSA football: game thread

Hopson won a conference game early and that bought him some credibility.

I might could have written it before this game. This lack of putting a game plan together did it for me. The chance is back to win this sorry assed west division is there and we are totally not prepared. Even without the game time decisions. Not to mention his total lack of emotion. Players screw up and it’s like, well....

Re: USM @ UTSA football: game thread

Seriously, do we beat State in game 2 with Briles and this talent on offense? I know we beat Tech but do we beat State?

no.  but obsessing about beating state isn't, in and of itself, going to get us anywhere, either.

the whole notion that being the best team in the (arguably) worst state in the union will get us anywhere is just fatally flawed.

jus' sayin'

Re: USM @ UTSA football: game thread

Hopson is the symptom, not the disease. Hopson wanted Briles. Hopson got Dawson (for all his flaws) and stayed out of his way long enough to get a win over Kentucky.

Hopson could stay hands-off Curley Hallman-style and recruit a little bit and give us something resembling hope... probably not a Sugar Bowl, but maybe some poll appearances.

The problem is that Hopson is being asked to do much more than Curley did, and that's in keeping with the 2019 CUSA model. What you want to see in 2019 CUSA is an offensive mind as HC, who can make noise and attract the attention of wealthier programs. Hopson will never be that, and if he ever is, he will be an even bigger mistake than Curley was.

Re: USM @ UTSA football: game thread

It was less about State and more about having two more wins but I don’t think we would have outscored them in the end.

I don't think it's going to get us anywhere to worry about what happened in 1990.
