Re: Mcclain interview

If players leave the Tater-Toppers will just spin it to their liking.  "Good riddance, we need people who are ALL IN," etc.

The human capacity for self-delusion may not be limitless, but it's definitely powerful enough to buy Hopson another year. May even end up being the dollar store Hattiesburg Bobby Bowden and retire at USM.

Re: Mcclain interview

I’m holding on to the fact that Jeremy hired his last football coach two weeks into 2019 and that this team will be flat against Tulane because of what we don’t see within this dysfunctional program.

I did my year end USM Foundation and Eagle Club “gifts” yesterday and kept thinking, why am I doing this again. All I could really justify is that Jeremy needs support. Until he proves to be worthwhile or worthless I will do my very small and insignificant part to give him at least 5 more minutes of indecision time in 2020....

I just don't see how you fire a coach this late. Who would we be able to hire? I'm all for giving him the boot, I just don't think it's this year.

A couple of more coaches will be removed or quit over the next few days. Plenty of up and coming talent awaiting a call. I’d take ULaLa’s OC tomorrow......

Re: Mcclain interview

Yeah, I was thinking USM would need to sort through all the people getting fired in staff purges and try to find a diamond in the rough.

It's not a sure-fire thing, but what's the alternative? Does anyone still hold out hope that Hop will ever do any better than what we've seen?

Or maybe they think we can be guilted (or otherwise marketed) into showing up for 7-6 ad nauseam? I definitely think that's what the people in charge would like, but eventually those guys have to admit the defibrillator is just warming up a corpse at this point.

Re: Mcclain interview

Found it odd today to see Chad Morris and now Matt Luke already handling responsibilities with their new teams during bowl games.  This is a new thing right?

Definitely wasn’t a good move for Auburn today........

Re: Mcclain interview

Hopson to “resign” with formal announcement as early as Monday. Working settlements for him and his staff with McClain. Buyout won’t be full $1 million for Hop. Not tied to future earnings as part of separation.

It’s going to happen.....

His buyout is half of the remainder left on the contract, so it’s closer to 500k than 1 million. Regardless, I don’t think it will happen.

Re: Mcclain interview

I'll tell you what's going to happen. Hop gets a bonu$ for winning season, and another bonu$ for going to a bowl game. Harris graduates, Quez gets drafted in the late rounds, Adams mysteriously disappears and Jack is featured on the 2020 football poster. McClain gets a new tie, haircut and teeth whitening treatment, becomes a TV preacher.

Did he quit going to class? He hasn't announced for the draft but he's got to be headed somewhere. Transfer portal? 8-week bender?

Re: Mcclain interview

Well, just to play Columbo, I think Hop (?) and Adams are trying to very carefully juggle 3 or 4 potential things: a desire to get Adam's into the draft, a desire to maybe get him into the portal, Adams' mid-season decision not to go to class (?), and some injury no one is supposed to hear about (fans, NFL, whatever P5 school Adams wants to end up at...)

I do not trust Hop to put USM's best interest ahead of Adams'
