Not to mention the approximately half million Reed Green has received already from the new tax with no transparency about how it is being or will be spent.

How's Bennett gonna dodge this?

Return the state flag of Mississippi to each campus?

Re: This doesn't sound good.

“Six days later, New paid $5 million up front in cash to the University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Foundation to rent all athletic facilities at her alma mater. She had sat on the foundation board during the 2016-2017 year. The five-year lease agreement said that the nonprofit “serves as a statewide family and community outreach initiative and requires access to facilities in the University’s area.”

How many times has USM been handed up to $5 million in cash upfront for anything and we didn’t do our due diligence regarding how the funds were secured and exactly how the funds will be utilized? Dilbert can’t hide from this even if he’s gone and Lamont can’t pass blame since it’s under his watch. It shouldn’t take long for someone to request any and all correspondence regarding this fiasco.

Sheeeyut, Bennett is nowhere near that writer's radar!  If she's gonna mention Favre, McClain, Bryant, and Coll in the same breath as Nancy New, nothing else she says has any credibility as far as I'm concerned.  If you're going to be an "investigative reporter" then hammer everyone equally.  Until I see solid actual proof that Favre solicited funds in a fraudulent manner, any negative mention of him has zero validity to me.  The girl is trying to sensationalize the story of some crooks in a crooked state to make Favre and USM look bad.  Hell, everyone knows you get appointed to the Foundation Board by donating a pile of money.  The Foundation is too damn broke to even pay for scholarships, much less investigate the donated funds.  However, I'm not naive enough to think that $5mm in funds from a non-profit didn't get the attention of the university president.

The real question is why wasn't Bennett's name in the first 2 or 3 sentences of this article rather than slandering Brett?  Again, there was no mention of RB...and we all know why.

Re: This doesn't sound good.

This will serve to further alienate Hattiesburg and its voters from USM. Good luck getting anything like that Reed Green millage passed ever again.

And for what? A volleyball gym? Geez.

Of course, I live in Atlanta and lack the inside connections that some guy who hangs out at a Tractor Supply Co. in Lamar County has. And I sensationalize everything and lie, generally as a way to complain about USM.

Re: This doesn't sound good.

(And yeah... the fact that Bennett signed off on this is truly mind-blowing, and it doesn't have much of anything to do with Brett Favre.)

Re: This doesn't sound good.

Y’all remember when people were trying to tear this University apart over hair gel? Those people won. The fact that our biggest capital improvement lately was an unnecessary and unwanted facility that steals from the poorest amongst us is a perfect end result to the salt that was poured in the fields from 08-11. Fuck the “one of us” crowd and anyone that still holds a grudge for us trying better. This is on you.

Didn't that eventually lead to Saunders' hasty resignation after several others were thrown under the proverbial bus? This may be bigger.

Re: This doesn't sound good.

Bennett needs to fucking go!  Right now.  And several others do as well.  We are a failed shit show and stupid shit keeps occurring under his nose.  Nothing is improved.  The worst part is that I have zero faith that a replacement would be worth a fuck either since all those on the college board are apparently a bunch of suck-asses.

I think I'm gonna write some checks this week to some politicians and immediately call in my requests!

"On behalf of the University, the Department of Athletics, and as a community member, I am proud and honored to announce this facility," Gilbert said. "It is certain to be a point of pride, as it stands to serve our student-athletes, our student body, and community constituents for years to come."

I’m sure this entire idea was hatched while that Nancy woman and Gilbert were out on one of his secretive woodland extravaganzas. At least it wasn’t a coed this time.
