If I were a member of our bloated athletic staff I'd be updating my resume.

If I were Mr. BLM (aka Mr. Potato Head), after cancelling the football season and adulterating the Dixie Darlings, ditto.

Face it, the school we attended no longer exists, and hasn't for a long time

A juicy excuse to turbo charge the degradation is being seized upon by weak and evil people.

I think I'm going to throw up.

Re: New schedule

Southern Miss has changed. The next generation of students that carry the burden of tuition and build the experience of campus life in 2020 have the right to make USM what they believe the school should represent. Alumni donations don’t carry enough weight to control the narrative for future Student generations. This isn’t the first time USM has navigated student protests, political views or concerns over racism, etc.....for most of us its the first time we are seeing it impact something we invested in.

This isn’t a Southern Miss thing. It’s happening everywhere and it’s naive to think it wasn’t already happening on campus for the past several years. Students today were not molded with strong foundations in faith, raised by both parents, taught to never quit and to work hard. Today’s student didn’t play sports, they were on their computer. They weren’t disciplined, their parents were their friend. They didn’t go to church, they slept in on Sunday. They didn’t try to make friends or date, they were too self absorbed and afraid so they labeled themself as “different” and made the world around them change to fit them instead. They can’t commit to anything beyond a few months at a time and feel society owes them whatever they want and if society doesn’t give it to them.....well it’s because you’re a racist or homophobic, etc.....

Bennett is the right leader to usher in the new Southern Miss where one can express who they are and if something “traditional” can be viewed as racist in the eyes of someone who doesn’t have a clue if it is or isn’t, then make the change.

Re: New schedule

I remember thinking USM was a very liberal place when I got there in the early 1990s. I hadn't had much exposure to people who were openly Marxist, atheist, or homosexual, but at USM I got plenty of that.

I don't think it's bad to know people who are different, even if they are just flat-out wrong about things (and you meet more them at USM than you do at the other two big MS public universities).

That said, there's a scary lesson about leftist politics here: nothing is ever enough. The tolerant climate of the 1990s at USM was not good enough for the people who found refuge in it. It was not enough that we opened our institution and warmly welcomed Marxists, atheists, and homosexuals. They want a complete takeover, and anyone who holds even the mildest nostalgia for old traditions must be loudly denounced.

Re: New schedule

Good post Dunwoody. My experience at USM mirrors yours since we were there around the same time. I have no issues with people having different opinions and I believe that is what makes society work honestly.

I actually laugh at this whole effort to change the Dixie Darlings name because the kids behind the movement don’t even go to the games to begin with. The point that everyone is missing and needs to be said......you can change a name or create a movement that doesn’t need to exist but it can never change your own perspective and your own view. They don’t control that or own it and at the end of the day that’s what this is all about......control. It’s not about perception or reversing racism or history. It’s this entitled culture of getting ones way that we live in today, period. It’s about getting attention and likes on social media. To everyone that attends a football game The Dixie Darlings will always be the Dixie Darlings. The Washington Redskins will always be the Redskins. Lady Antebellum will always suck.......just because Timmy with his trumpet wants a name change doesn’t change anyone’s view, my opinion or my right to refer to whatever it is in its original form.

Read the story at hubcityspokes.

Pretty sick how the communists tout "diversity" then define "safety" (safe places) as not having to contend with different points points of view, beliefs or anything nebulously conceived as uncomfortable.

Could see this coming when they hired MPH and since then in everything he has done and said, but it's no less of a gut punch. And there will be more, much more.

I had already unsubscribed from the emails and quit most support except attending the occasional game - that's over.

The last vestige is my car tag, and that will go away at renewal, maybe before depending on options.
