Some interesting outside perspective from State fans

It's three years old, but still a very relevant read.

Re: Some interesting outside perspective from State fans

I wonder what this guy's referring to:

"They did this to themselves. Partially by joining the conference after being a somewhat successful independent. Partly for not taking a lesser conference move from CUSA when they had a chance, but thought they deserved a big 5/6 conference."

When did we ever have a change to get out of CUSA? Is he talking about the Sun belt or something?

We have been offered nothing.

That was basically my reaction. I wonder what he *thinks* we were offered, though. When Mr. Leghumper there posted that, there was no conference between CUSA and the AAC except for maybe the MWC. I can't imagine the MWC would want us, even if we were the absolute shit, because we're 1,500 miles away from them.

He is probably talking about the old metro, which did not have football.

But what in the hell does this mean:

"not taking a lesser conference move from CUSA"

That's the part that confuses me.

Re: Some interesting outside perspective from State fans

State (and OM) fans don't really understand conference realignment at this level. Most of them listen to Bo Bounds and think USM got left out of the AAC because we don't have enough fans or something. Yeah, that's why Tulane, SMU, Tulsa, and Houston got in. Houston has grown their fanbase since joining the AAC and going on a run during the Herman years but they had shit support in CUSA 2.0. We played them at Robertson in 2009 when they were #15 in the country and had wins over Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and MSU. The announced attendance that day was 20k.
