Some of the best concerts you ever attended

With the age group here this ought to be interesting.  In no certain order mine are:

The Who '82
David Bowie 89ish
Jeff Beck 90s
Eric Clapton about two weeks after SRV died
Plant (twice) 83, 85
Plant/Page 80s
The Firm (twice) 84, 85
Cheap Trick (all three times were very good but the one at the '84 Worlds Fair Amphitheater was the best)
The real Van Halen (Fair Warning was the better of the two I saw) 83, 84
Golden Earring 83
Dream Theater with Dweezil Zappa and Bigelf opening 2008
Ozzy with Alice in Chains opening 89/90ish
Lollapalooza '95 (Metallica, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Waylon Jennings, and some other MFers!)
Aldo Nova 84
RATT 84/85
Zach Wylde 2012

These braincells survived...

steel wheels was 89. we went through a travel agency for tickets and a bus ride over and back from Pensacola. seems that there were duplicate tickets made for many of the seats that people on the bus had. everyone got a refund for the inconvenience of that. so we all got to see the greatest band ever for free.

Re: Some of the best concerts you ever attended

That's a good Stones story...I saw the Who for free.  I drove a 15 year old friend of mine.  Her dad was an LA record company guy and had 5 passes waiting at Will Call.  We thought there were only 4 so one went to waste!

Dan fogelberg
Chicago
ZZ Top
Fleetwood Mac
Allman Bros

We still play them once or twice a month in my house. It's good Saturday Night beer-drinking music.

Black Oak Arkansas rented a house off Magnolia St for a while in Long Beach during the late 60s...everyone hung out/partied with them every night.  Where did you see them?

KISS Alive '76 was at the very top of their game.  Where was it, Atlanta?

Re: Some of the best concerts you ever attended

Bon Jovi opened for Ratt in support of his 8500 degrees album.  Couldn't wait for him to leave the stage, never did like them.

Yah, there's plenty more I didn't mention and too many that I had to skip due to work at the grocery store during the mid 80s.  First show I ever saw was Molly Hatchet in '80/81 with a new band called .38 Special opening for them.  You'll notice I listed Golden Earring in '83, they actually opened for .38 Spl but I was there for the Earring and they didn't disappoint. Also saw Night Ranger LOL with Tony Carey of Planet P opening. I've seen AC/DC at least twice and Megadeth as well. Saw Metallica in Biloxi and Mobile also. I've seen Boston and Yes too but not in their heyday.

Saw fuckin Jethro Tull and can tell you that Ian Anderson is a freak of nature...he plays the flute on one leg for half the show!  ZZ Top once too but it was 90s.  I've forgotten so many I'm sure.  These young folks have no idea what it was like back in the day as far as concerts go. You had to go platinum just to headline and usually had three albums out.

Carlin was at RGC? Would have loved to been around for that one.

Earth, Wind, and Fire...RGC...circa ‘77

The bands roadies backed into my girlfriends (now wife) car. Gave her backstage passes to get her to shut up.

With all the blown out afro’s, looked like RGC had wall to wall black shag carpet. The band landed in a flying pyramid and proceeded to blow everyone away. Never did get the burnt leaf smell outta those jeans.

No sir, not a doc. Just a 51 year old cat from Long Beach. I don't believe we've ever met.  With that said, I saw a dude driving around LB the other day with your last name on his car tag...got any relations down here?
