Kudos to Jamie for mentioning this site on his show. He probably does it all the time. I need to become a regular listener.

Each of us on this board has a story. Dunwoody is just trying to provide us the space to share them. I like Paul and his take on where we are and believe his humor is lost on so many looking for someone to blame. He just needs to stick to one handle going forward.

There’s a lot at stake nowadays USM.
We have shackled our past success by poor leadership decisions guided by fear and absent of drive. We are now pushing back that darkness we enabled with half of the supporters we once had.

Last week was a mistake by our administration but it also put a spotlight on Hopson and what he is willing to do to get us where we belong. His coaches love him. His players love him. All we can do is cancel out the noise that is the media trying to break USM down and give Hop what he needs going forward this year. We all share that in common even if we don’t share our cable credentials.

Paul said he looks at this site but does not post. I am not sure what handle he registered under.

I'm confused about it myself. I went back and looked at my posts since the Briles story broke. I only mentioned that SB Nation thing twice, and both times there was a big fat "IF" in front of it.

We've had a guy rage-quit because I wouldn't help him steal cable. We've had another rage-quit because people here are too right wing for him. What can I do about these things?

What's really depressing is that this weekend, I actually threw an assist to someone who, so far as I can tell, is Fighting Eagle's associate somehow. I didn't do that because I agree with everything he puts online, or even most of it. The mere fact that he's talking about USM was enough for me.

As for this notion that I'm "negative" about USM, I'm not. I feel that one part of USM (sports) has been wrong-footed a lot lately. I am one of the most optimistic people here about USM as an institution.

It is odd but ... ok.

Your message board would have done better if you had taken the path of other message board owners. They rarely post and let the board come into its own. You constantly post innuendo and hyperbole. Mostly negative toward uUsm. Sensationalized lies at times. This is a real reason this board has very few posters and the other boards are gaining new members daily. I rarely post here because of the reasons I stated. You stated you live in Atlanta so you are out of touch and I doubt you evenpersonally know any of the administration or have any contacts. I won't be posting here again.

I live outside of Atlanta. I rather enjoyed reading your posts.

I doubt it is me. Anything I have posted on this particular subject came from a former coach. I typically don't post anything I hear from him but in this case I did. I wasn't the only one but that was on another forum. I didn't glean anything out of the paper.  It doesn't matter as it appears things are blown over and everyone is happy. Life and USM move on to the next hurdle. I plan to go back to posting as little as possible.

My issue with Bennett is he has no integrity. To say he had no knowledge and put his head coach through this nonsense was wrong. He should have said in his comments last week that we interviewed him and did not approve, not I didn't know about it. That's my issue on this whole deal. I do not think the process worked and not because Briles wasn't hired. Bennett got a lot of personal earfuls last week.

That guy on the coast may as well work for SB Nation. I don't read anything he writes including this article. I still get my USM sporting news through Tim Doherty.

Well great. I guess that is why Bennett, Bower, Cameron, Kamera and Mitchell were at the game. No Hopson? I know the post is tongue in cheek but has something really been stated on this?

As for Bennett, he should have known about these things in Hopson's past. If he didn't, that's bad. If he did and still let this Briles thing get started, that's bad... but I doubt that.

I suspect Bennett knew Hop was playing footsie with Briles, but didn't know about these newly unearthed issues with Hopson's past. These issues make it impossible for USM to move on and put the Briles thing in the past. Bennett is probably furious at Hopson for that, and rightly so.

(None of this is to say that I think Hopson or Briles did anything morally wrong. They're football coaches, not security guards or guidance counselors.)

Sb nation is wrong. Bennett knew from the beginning. USM flew thd guy in for the interview. He changed his story when the press and professors jumped on him. He could have said no from the start.

Ace...

Bennett knew but SB is not wrong.... the 'anonymous source' that leaked the 'he came in for a landing without getting clearance from the tower' BS story is the one that is wrong.

Patty Magee's hatchet job BS story is wrong.  How does that guy keep a job?

USM paid to fly him in. That is just silly.

Read again. It's open to anyone who is an Alumni member. I received an invite. I know many who did.  If you did not then you are not an Alumni.

Yes and oui already have those people. After this, how many do oui keep? Why not invite the ones that left and ask them what they can do to get back in? Maybe they would have some good answers like funding the program. There is $10M in the football foundation that some of that could be used to hire and retain good coaches. That would be a start. Honestly discuss the pros and cons of remaining in CUSA. Go after the smaller donations as Bill McClellan did at Clemson. IPTAY? Our president doesn't know who Bill Mclellan is. No lie.

Or you can speculate that no one is working on a 'plan' and the 'plan' is to maintain radio silence ( except for leaks) and ride the storm out.

Very possible. Found it interesting that about an hour after The Athletic and Sun Herald published the latest Hop story last night Jeff Mitchell posted a fluff piece on the basketball program. Either he had zero clue what transpired one hour earlier or he intentionally wanted to change the narrative. The only response to his fluff tweet was someone who simply said #supportjhop.....

Jay checked before bringing him in. Normally that is not the case. With Briles and his baggage he checked. This could have been handled quietly and it went public. No reason for it. Bennett could have said no to the interview.
