Re: cusa a failing model that needs to be dissolved.

It's good that people are starting to talk about this. I'd like to see C-USA split up amicably. I'm less enthusiastic about cobbling together a regional league with Sun Belt teams. Crap is crap whether it's next door or halfway across the country.

I don't believe any focus, plan or effort exists to get us into the AAC, whether an opportunity arises or not.

I think you're right, and I think most people have given up on that anyway. Nobody at USM has the testosterone to try and run with that crowd anymore.

A return to our roots is what I hope for. Ditch C-ClapYaHands and get the team back into Bryant Denny, Jordan Hare, etc. and give them our best shot. Over time we'll only get better at it. "Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime" was once our brand and (believe it or now, and unlike "TTT" or "CUSA") people didn't snicker at it.

Build the testosterone back up, one metaphorical preacher curl at a time.

Playing nobodies every week is a good way to become a nobody. That is the story of the last 20 years of USM athletics.

Re: cusa a failing model that needs to be dissolved.

Ugh. Must we? Let me offer a realistic counterpoint:

Conference games: none
Road games: Bama, Tulane, FSU, ECU, Memphis, Troy*, Kentucky, and Georgia
Home games: Jackson State, UAB*, ULL*, and LA Tech*

*As part of a one-and-one

There's a lot more money and a lot more excitement there than anything going on now.

Just makes Gilbert's job easier. Won't generate much additional excitement... maybe a little, but it's not worth it in an overall sense.

Good info with hard numbers to support opinions. I'm sure Giblet and Flamingo Boy have access to this information and can correlate it to the same issues at Southern. Like Thompson said, there's no silver bullet but things will have to change quickly and drastically for USM to stay financially viable to remain at this level.

Re: cusa a failing model that needs to be dissolved.

we tried years ago to get Giannini to install a few TV's in the concession area and speakers in the restrooms for people to keep up with the game while away from their seats, like other stadiums have,  to enhance the gameday experience, he gave us some BS excuse about how it was not possible because of the way the stadium was built or some shit. also told him to get Seymour into the stands to have fun with the fans and children like he used to back in the 80's and early 90's. instead of just walking up and down the sidelines doing a bunch of nothing during the game. and we are still trying to get Nugget 2 on the sidelines or to fly around the stadium before the game like he has been trained to do, but No, that would take effort and work. geeeeeeez, trying to get these people we pay to do their jobs is like trying to get the Fed Gov't to use common sense.
