Good interview with Nick. Didn’t know he is pretty much an Atlanta guy, living there 16 years. Went to UGA. He found it funny when So Miss people tweeted him for having an SEC picture on his Twitter bio background from his LSU beat. Seems more of a pro sports guy first.
Nick doesn’t see the Griggs issue impacting the offense. He sees Jack a good fit for Dawson’s air raid scheme. He made a great point on how Southern Miss is approaching the loss of Ito using a Moneyball methodology with three guys to replace the productivity, not the player.
Interesting that Nick hasn’t watched any tape yet from last years team. He seems caught up on where we are right now. Sounds like Munz has helped him adjust and talks to to him weekly.

The "exclusive black alumni discount" for game tickets USM is marketing is wrong. For a university that loves to promote inclusion across all races, genders, etc....they do a great job marketing events for a specific ethnicity that promotes higher ticket prices for everyone else.....

Clearly you take issue with a lot of the views expressed here. I can't speak for everyone here, but I can tell you what the man who runs this board thinks.

I don't think playing SWAC teams is a sign of the USM football apocalypse. I probably go to more USM vs. SWAC home games than USM vs. CUSA home games.I think that following, say, Jackson State is less insane than following, say, Florida International. Who pulls for FIU? They're lunatics.

I don't monitor the racial makeup of USM's student body, and even if I did I wouldn't necessarily be clutching pearls and shaking my fist at the heavens if it turned blacker. If I wanted my college to be a Klan meeting I would have gone elsewhere.

I think Rodney Bennett has done a better job than his predecessors. That's a pretty low bar, and it's a bar he's cleared.

All that said, I understand why people would object to special discounts, events, etc. based on skin color. The problems people have with that seem obvious and inherent.

It's OK to question that. It was questioned here, and I shared why I didn't think it was a real concern. We should be allowed to discuss such things without you stereotyping us.

Playing an annual SWAC opponent is fine. We did this when we were a better program. Its a location thing as much as anything. JSU is a practice game at a time when we need it most for our new QB and secondary. I am good with it and it helps fill up the Rock more than Charlotte.

We should be allowed to discuss such things without you stereotyping us.

I agree with the sentiment that one should respect the African American history of struggle and how far our society has come.....but not at the cost of other races, including the USM Asian and Hispanic student populations. This promotion isn't about celebrating, its about taking advantage of the black community for the benefit of increasing our gate income for the game against a primarily black university. You already have an entire month dedicated to the AA cause and if you want something more "academic" for USM to promote look no further than the college fund dedicated to promoting minority education.....If USM really wants to celebrate the AA community, do it in February.

At what point do you move forward and truly promote equal footing for all races in society? Racism today impacts all races, it no longer exclusive. It is racist to offer cheaper admission and exclusive benefits just because of ones skin color. Its not even a debate. Doing this for the JSU game is stereotypical and plain ignorant by USM. Calling it for what it is.
