I got this sweet setup Christmas 1983.......wired speakers would detach so you could really fill the room with sound. My parents also got me Billy Joel Glass Houses on cassette that Christmas. Side 1 of that tape is probably his best work. Good times.....

That was a popular way to go in the mid-to-late 1980s. My grandma was a bit of a rich A/V nerd back then and she used to listen to one of these:


She never turned it up past 4 or moved the speakers around, but even as a little kid I knew it was badass.
