Sun Belt to split $17+ million in playoff money among just 10 schools

And Commissioner Karl Benson is quick to point to this as a sign that they've surpassed the MAC and CUSA.

What a joke CUSA is and has always been. Can we not interview Benson for the AD job, though?

Honestly it’s like comparing car companies Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi with Kia proclaiming they finally passed the other two. It doesn’t matter at all. No need to get disappointed over crappy car makers......I mean conferences.....

Do you really want the guy that was in charge of Kia interviewing for your AD job?

No, you really don’t.....

Yeah, I agree. Any jockeying for position by the bottom 3 is ridiculous. You still see a lot of it on message boards.

You'd really thumb your nose at Benson as AD? I wouldn't. He kind of reminds me of Fedora. He's a salesman. We've tried the other route, with guys who look at their shoes and then talk about "feeling we're competitive within our local prefecture" or peanut sales or whatever. Screw that. I want someone with a pulse.

He might have a pulse but you need to check his EKG every other day because Benson is 70 years old. Get me someone south of 40 for our next AD, please.....

He's old. How much time have we got here, though? And he wouldn't be gunning for a P5 job.

I admit it's kind of ridiculous to suggest Karl for the job. It's just an example of the sort of person we need. That guy has been making near miracles out of chicken shit for decades now. He definitely pulled a Brer Rabbit on CUSA with those clown colleges he unloaded on us 5 years ago.

The guy we should hire (even though he is north of 40) is John Currie. We are redemption U and if anyone deserves another shot it’s him. What he did at KSU should not be overshadowed by his attempt to hire a Greg Schiano at Tennessee. Give that man a second chance and watch him rise us from the ashes of despair.

And while we are at it.....can we get Hop a friggin helicopter for recruiting purposes so when he lands on the practice field of a 4 star recruit he has some swag compared to those “other” programs.......and add the slogan #goldblooded to our athletic program for a little more edge.....

Re: Sun Belt to split $17+ million in playoff money among just 10 schools

The Schiano-to-Tennesse episode was a real debacle. He would have done well there, but a bunch of idiot fans who actually thought they could do better latched onto the Sandusky thing (which they honestly didn't care about, sadly) as a way to drive him away. So now they've got Phil Fulmer, Jeremy Pruitt, and a 5-7 record... it's like a dumb hillbilly starter pack.

I like #goldblooded better than a lot of the actual USM sloganalia.
