Re: Get Your Popcorn Ready.....

wow .... this is getting ugly

My husband is the head coach not Art Briles. I trust his integrity and the way he runs his program.

Re: Get Your Popcorn Ready.....

USA Today went after Hopson as well with a headlining article.....here's part of it.....

“I understand both sides have opinions," Hopson said, "this is just mine."

It's a flawed one, and ought to give Southern Miss administrators pause about whether Hopson is the right man for his job, too.

I wonder if Hopson would be such a passionate defender of Briles had it been either of his two daughters who were demeaned like the women at Baylor were. Would he be so willing to forgive? Would he consider the vain spirituality of someone desperate to get back in the game an acceptable tradeoff for a high-powered offense?

Sure like to hear the ‘entire’ story of this fiasco. I’m not 100% sold Bennett wasn’t aware

My hunch: Bennett was OK with the interview and the attention the whole thing brought, but at no point did he commit to actually hiring Briles.

Re: Get Your Popcorn Ready.....

Yeah, if Briles was truly in town Saturday at the baseball banquet, which I've only seen one Twitter post saying it was nice to meet him, then how in the hell does it get to that point without the president knowing?

It probably unfolded a lot like kids trying to convince their dad to get a dog. The dog is just visiting. Dad is OK with the dog visiting. But the kids are hoping that dad will like the dog and have a change of heart, even though they know dad doesn't want a dog. Then, when dad puts his foot down and reminds the kids he has a strict "no dogs" policy, the kids sulk and invoke Jesus on Twitter.

Letting the kids have the dog is not good parenting.

Re: Get Your Popcorn Ready.....

Andre I get the analysis, but I personally think Bennett knew and let it play out until the media backlash hit before making his decision.

Now, I'm okay with that, and his decision to say "no"...

However, he put Hop out there standing with his dick in his hand.

Something has been brewing for a while, one way or another, and it doesn't smell good.

Had the same thought. That's his prerogative, but if he misled Hopson somehow, then I don't approve of that. Clearly there was some disconnect there.
