I have only owned one bluetooth portable speaker over the past 7+ years, a 2011ish Jawbone Jambox that at the time of purchase($50) was ahead of the game as far as sound and quality. Now the Jambox company is out of business as of 2017 and that speaker can barely hold a charge. The sound volume and quality doesn't hold a candle to current tech options.
I use a portable speaker when working in the garage but found the need for something more often this summer for outdoor events especially as my kid gets older. Not wanting to spend significant dollars(some exceed $400) I found the Wonderboom 2 after researching reviews on some trusted tech sites. The second version came out in June I believe. Its got geat sound, also has an IP67 rating means it’s waterproof, dust-proof and can take a beating with a high drop rating. Got this for $79 this week. Hopefully it holds up as promised over time but so far its legit.
