Re: Armed Forces Bowl in Ft Worth v Tulane

I honestly saw a lot of this coming when the Sun Belt added football. Wasn't much to differentiate USM or USM sports from those schools after that happened,  and the Sun Belt became USM's natural destination.

That was a development that was just awful for USM.

Re: Armed Forces Bowl in Ft Worth v Tulane

Were we to tuck tail to the Sunbelt, we'd be just as crappy there. We have a systemic problem. We are full of gaywad TTT and "well being" drivel that is contrary to fire, toughness and aspirations. And Jeremy has adopted the same baby sitting shit just like that clown, Gilbert. Additionally, Mr. Potato Head dropped a steamer on Hop over the Briles opportunity. How do you figure that motivates/sifts down?

Re: Armed Forces Bowl in Ft Worth v Tulane

We just need to get our asses handed to us in Fort Worth by the 7th place team in the AAC for Jeremy to have what he needs in the eyes of Lamont to move on from this clown. His recruiting is a fail. We don't need to be concerned about Feb signing day because we just ate up a ton of spots on the JC circuit. Cut the dead weight with this guy and move on to someone that can actually motivate and keep talent within the program. Tulane needs to beat us bad.......which isn't that hard to accomplish in reality.

I honestly hope the team comes out fired up and beats the crap out of Tulane. I hope it gets ugly,  in every way.  It's not hard to tell a story where Tulane thinks they're better than USM, that USM doesn't belong.

I don't expect that, though. I expect a snoozer.

look at this way, you can stir up a half dozen extra large eggs with 6 pcs. of well lathered toast , take a dump, then expel the rest by halftime via the esophagus, take a nap, and catch the first playoff game...

This is an interesting match up. Extra practice, etc. is always a great thing. I like playing an old foe like Tulane. I just don't really see the upside to the match up. If we win, us fans will look at it like we expected to win and should win. We dominated Tulare for years, and we expect to still do so. I don't think it really impacts perception in any way…… But, if we lose. Now, the rose glasses will have to come off for those still in denial. Including USM staff. Fan support will fall even further behind.

After typing that, maybe a loss to Tulane is the best way to wake up this apathetic program.

I can't state for fact when "Reggie right, Reggie left" was coined....however, somehow my foggy skull cap remembers him torching jewlane on a particular fall day at MM Empty....

to your posit, I couldn't agree more....it's basically a net positive gain from a negative...unfortunately, the only caveat to that is the trigger should've been pulled a couple of weeks ago....

You are correct....and it is going to happen. Tulane will run the ball up our collective ass’s from the opening kickoff. Why? Because their coaches will have a superior game plan and will have them executing like a well oiled machine. The difference between the two teams is not in talent. It is in our inane, mid-level, high school coaching staff’s inability to game plan, prepare, and execute.

I watched Fritz’s Sam Houston State teams play several times in person. Hell, people would drive from Houston up to Huntsville just for the fun of watching a relatively simple offense run to perfection. My main complaint with Hammond, as interim AD, was when he would not wait on Fritz to finish a playoff run at Sam before becoming HC at USM. Had he waited 3 weeks we could have had a first rate staff and our football program would have been in a significantly different place.

Our bowl game with Tulane will indeed be brutal, but I hope it will finally wake up our leadership to act aggressively to turn the program around.

I can rephrase mine without the buzzword.

I have weighed the joy I'd get from seeing Hop slack-jawed looking stupid against Tulane (which is something he's earned) against the joy I'd get from a convincing victory over Tulane, and also the joy I'd get from Hop just half-assedly backing into a victory.

I will get the most joy from a convincing victory. The other two form a slug race I am unable to handicap.

Re: Armed Forces Bowl in Ft Worth v Tulane

Are we seeing some betting action on USM?

Opened at Tulane -7.5, with most places showing -7 now. MGM Mirage is still giving -7.5 but withough vig... like, they would really like to encourage you to bet Tulane -7.5. (Do them a personal favor.)

my guy has it -7 at -115/+7 -105...

I'm most likely going to buy it down to -6.5/-125 for 250/200....

the rule of thumb in foosball is, buy to win, never buy to tie....

I see no reason to bet it early as it's dropped from the open...
