Re: The TTT mindset

Thinking Ito should win the Conerly.

Bragging about how they don’t watch non-USM CFB, but then talk about how we could beat Florida State or some other P5 team in Shreveport.

Thinking that winning the NIT was a big deal.

well it was. back then the NIT was still a prestigious tournament. but celebrating it today with that stupid name for the arena is TTT. I would probably shit my pants with glee if we could ever win just 1 NCAA tournament game.

Re: The TTT mindset

Thinking everyone is out to get USM is another staple of the TTT mindset. Because it’s the NCAA, IHL, CL, ESPN, etc’s fault that we hired Saunders and Giannini which killed the university.

I’ve never seen a fanbase that comes up with as many whacked out conspiracy theories as this fanbase does. I look at other G5 fanbases and it’s a breath of fresh air. Not nearly as many conspiracies and living in the past as USM fans. With us, it’s “we were good in the 90s, bow down to us, also ESPN and Haley Barbour are the reasons we suck now.”

Re: The TTT mindset

Disdain for advanced statistics is another part of the TTT mindset. I remember when Tyndall’s teams were just left out of the NCAAs. We were something like 30 in the RPI so the TTT fans thought it was a travesty that a team that high was left out. When it was pointed that we were in the 60s in the advanced metrics, people thought that was just a bunch of bullshit ESPN garbage that was anti-USM.

Re: The TTT mindset

This is a relatively new one. People being OK with shitty baseball OOC schedules so we can have a billion pointless home games early in the year against renowned programs such as Eastern Illinois, Evansville, and Oakland. TTT fans would rather play some terrible team at home instead of playing real programs on the road. This kills our SOS which puts us in a position where we need to be perfect to host.

(Though the 2018 schedule does look better)

Re: The TTT mindset

I don't know if this is a TTT thing per se; I used to see it a lot on the CUSA board so maybe it's a G5 thing. What happens is that some random G5 team is giving some random P5 team a hard time, and suddenly every USM fan at the bar / on the board / whatever is their biggest fan.

Personally, when I see USA or UAB or whoever playing a P5 team and not getting blown out, I hope the P5 team goes for the jugular. I'm not pulling for another team just because they're G5 or even CUSA. They can all rot. A rising tide does not lift all boats when it comes to G5 football.

This is definitely part of the TTT mindset. Even if some mid-major pulls an upset over a power foe, it's not going to change the fact that the power school is in a infinitely better position moving forward than the mid-major.

I don't think "they're" out to get us. In general, the college board has been fine with us being pretty damned successful at times. But when we start shoving it in the other two schools' faces, bad things do happen. Consider what happened right after the Thames administration declared us the largest school in the state by enrollment, or how things turned out for us after we erected that "Mississippi's only BCS ranked football team" billboard in early 2012.

Better to just enjoy our successes without reference to anyone else. State and OM aren't rivals, they're more like powerful people who live in the same neighborhood as us. They'll be content to nod politely when our paths cross, not really thinking about us at all. They'll even mildly celebrate our own success, as long as it doesn't come at their expense or get shoved in their faces. But you don't want to piss them off.

They used to care about us.......a serious concern.  Now they don't give us two thoughts.  The separation is just to great.

Not sure there's room to automate that, with all the tots and Docs down there already. If Doc gets the axe we can maybe slot someone else's head in there.

No, they built an entertainment brand and they're cashing in on it. WTF do you expect?
