Re: The TTT mindset

It would be hard for me to come up with a legitimate argument for why Alabama deserved to be voted in. I didn't even play in my conference championship game. My signature wins were LSU (3-losses...one to Troy), barely edged out Miss. State....and a very good Auburn team (who ended up with 3 losses also.

Alabama also didn’t lose by 30+ to Iowa.

What do people even get out of trying to educate fans of other CUSA schools like that, or even talking to them? After Tulane and ECU left, I mostly stopped posting there until the EaglePost people showed up.

Correct. It's stupid. At best, if you win the argument, it's "Okay, you're right. USM was really good 20 years ago."

You might be a TTT fan if you get triggered by the term "mid-major."

Keon didn’t win the Heisman? Total screw job. SEC and ESPN at it again.

Disdain for advanced statistics is another part of the TTT mindset. I remember when Tyndall’s teams were just left out of the NCAAs. We were something like 30 in the RPI so the TTT fans thought it was a travesty that a team that high was left out. When it was pointed that we were in the 60s in the advanced metrics, people thought that was just a bunch of bullshit ESPN garbage that was anti-USM.

PFF is an advanced statistics site. Check out the replies. Damn raw numbers are anti-Southern Miss.

Re: The TTT mindset

Referring to Ole Miss, State, and USM as the "Big 3" is more TTT fun.

Hate to break it to ya, but there isn't a "Big 3" anymore. There's a Big 2.

I think it's more of an overall thing than a sports thing. As an overall thing, I buy it. As a sports thing, no, I do not.

I'm not sure it's an overall thing anymore. In terms of research, endowment, and now enrollment, those schools are blowing us out of the water.

Re: The TTT mindset

Another TTT-ism is saying "it's good for the state" whenever we sign any kind of agreement with State or Ole Miss.

HEADLINE: USM and MSU to play exhibition tennis match in some guy's backyard in Meridian
TTT FAN: Oh man, that's great for the state of Mississippi!

Re: The TTT mindset

More on “it’s good for the state”....

- any home/home deal with State or Ole Miss is considered good for the state regardless of the sport

- whether or not a 2-1 deal with State or Ole Miss is good for the state is debated. Many TTT fans say it’s not, because they believe it’s still 1981 and that we are on the same level as those schools. More level-headed fans are OK with saying a 2-1 is good for the state.

- games with Alcorn State and Mississippi Valley are considered good for the state, but not as good for the state as games with State and Ole Miss are. TTT fans are divided on whether games with Jackson State are good for the state. Some say yes, it is good for the state, as Jackson State is a fellow IHL institution and brings lot of fans. Others aren’t so sure, with claims of JSU fans causing a ruckus and stealing shit at previous games. Any deal that involves us playing at JSU (like the 2-2 we had with them in basketball recently) is generally considered not good for the state.

- basketball games with non-D1 schools such as William Carey, Blue Mountain, or Rust are considered good for the state, because we don’t have to return the trip and get a couple bullshit home games out of it (which is what matters).

Re: The TTT mindset

This is new and a kinda bizarre one, but I’ve noticed an obsession of Arkansas State among TTT fans. Apparently they are our model program now.

FAN 1: USM finally pressure washed Roberts Stadium, this is great!
FAN 2: Oh yeah? Well, Arkansas State just built a $500 billion geodome around their campus so they can play/practice even during bad weather.
