Favorite Pistol caliber???

Are you a 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP person?  Please do elaborate...

I carry a 9 most of the time and sometimes a .380 but my "go to" is a .45 ACP.  My most favorite is the .454 Casull followed closely by it's little brother, the .45 Colt that I reload in Magnum velocities.  I also really like the .460 S&W Magnum another variant of the exact same .451/452 projectile.  The .460 is just so extremely violent to shoot, I don't make a habit of it very often.

Re: Favorite Pistol caliber???

There are a few (somewhat) oddball calibers that I like.

.22 WMR is a cool round. Love a small bullet with a lot of bang behind it. I don't have the time or energy available to fool with it, but the Kel-Tec PMR30 is a cool weapon on paper.

More realistically, I'll probably pick up a .22 WMR revolver at some point. Ruger makes some good ones. There is a brand called "American Heritage" that makes some cheaper .22 WMR revolvers.

.357 Sig is cool. Practically, it doesn't have much of an advantage over a good 9x19mm round, but bottleneck cartridges just appeal to me.

.38 Super is another good one. A lot of competition marksmen seem to gravitate towards it.

FNH 5.7 is awesome if you've got money to burn.

At the end of the day, though, it's 9x19mm, though. That's just how it is, know what I mean?

Re: Favorite Pistol caliber???

And .40 Smith & Wesson always struck me as a knucklehead round.

.45 ACP is for grandpa.

Re: Favorite Pistol caliber???

Check out the .22 TCM...it's a burner and makes the 5.7 look goofy.  It shoots out of a 1911 platform and comes with a 9mm barrel/mainspring so you can quickly convert in a matter of minutes.  Its an Armscor product and its pretty damn cool.  I love mine!  2000+ feet per second out of a Commander sized 1911.  Shoots a fireball the size of Texas!!

Wow. That's definitely something for the wish list. It will turn heads at the range, no doubt.

It's not the size of the bullet, it's the power behind it.

TCM_Series_Inset.jpg

These are conservative numbers...I've had rational people chrono them at nearly 2200 fps from a 5" barrel
