G5 TV Contracts

Rambling thoughts and questions.

Most or all G5 TV contracts come due within the next 30 months.  Interesting to read opinions from different fans. Some, actually many, believe the TV revenue bubble has busted. Some, mostly AAC, believe it will receive a significant increase. It’s been rumored CUSA will yet again take another hit to an already diminished revenue source.

Suppose the question is, will this be a nuclear type explosion? Complete realignment for all G5. Or will it be a grenade for select G5 conferences?  Must admit, AAC has done about all a G5 conference can do to get respect and TV dollars. But is it enough?  If CUSA Tv contract declines again, or remains the same, can we afford to hang around?

Next thirty months should be interesting. One could question if Southern Miss football exist within next 36 months.

One could question to what extent it exists now.

Why i told you fools the aac wasnt a destination to seek.   Aint enough room on the dance floor.  We are in the same sinking boat.   G5 playoff is the only thing that will save us and draw interest.

That point can’t be argued. Not much left of what was a once proud program.

Suppose one can’t judge someone a fool just yet. In fact, AAC TV exposure and revenue far exceeds all others. Cant recall exact number but each AAC team gets between $2mm - $3mm versus our $200k. All comes down to which direction next TV deal for AAC goes. Stays the same or increases then doesn’t appear the ‘fools’ were wrong. If it nose dives like some suggest then foolish it may be. Regardless AAC is a better conference from perception, respect, Bowl contracts, TV exposure etc.

Southern Miss can’t win CUSA, what benefit will a G5 playoff present?  Split amount all G5 will not do much, value just isn’t there.  Look no further than G5 bowls. Low attendance and TV  viewership. Doubt an entity is willing to pony up $100mm + because ‘we think it will work’. Too many measures available to say otherwise.

Re: G5 TV Contracts

Believe there will be a reorganization of teams in CUSA and the Sun Belt eventually. They probably won't do it right though.

Re: G5 TV Contracts

Another shift is coming. Last nights game between the SEC and Oklahoma had exceptional ratings. It’s been discussed and rumored for years that Oklahoma wants out and the SEC will be a great landing spot for both parties. Move Auburn and Bama to the east and add Ok and Okie st. to the west. Texas then goes independent and the g5 begins to shift teams around.

None. Teams like UCF would rather win the Peach Bowl than slog through some MAC / Sun Belt / CUSA-heavy bracket for the frickin' Steak 'N Shake Cup or whatever.
