Not Really a Watch Guy.....

Have a few......besides my 1983 PAC Man Watch, I have a few Bulova ones I wore earlier in my career but now I just keep it simple between an old reliable Fossil and a Nike+Series 3 from Apple.
I have a swatch from the Olympics 22 years ago that I was gifted but is still in the box. I saw it somewhere a few months back in a closet or a drawer.....

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

What is the purpose of a watch these days?  Definitely not needed to keep up with time.

Honest question.

I use mine to tell how long I've been swimming.

I use it for tracking distance/time on my morning run and that’s about it.

I'm sure a phone app will do that.

Most all phones have an app for that.

I believe my phone is waterproof, but I doubt it's as waterproof as a dive watch.

Also, there's a certain simplicity and immediacy to a watch that an app, particularly a touchscreen-based one, just cannot come close to matching. I wrestle with phones and computers all day; I want things like my commute and my workout to be an escape from that.

Honest question.

Cell phones do die you know.  Especially at inopportune times such as being lost in the woods outside of cell signal where the phone searches constantly until it dies or right after a hurricane and there's nary a way to charge the phone.  Knowing what time it is from a fully automatic watch is very helpful.  Does it happen all day, every day? No, but I carry a pistol on me all the time too and I haven't needed to use it lately.

Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.  I'll take prepared every time I have a chance!

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

I haven't worn a watch in years, but recently decided to jump back in. I was looking pretty hard a a Galaxy watch to pair with my phone. Ultimately I decided I wouldn't use half of the functions and went with a regular ole watch. Should be delivered today, looking forward to getting it.

Post a pic when you get it

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

Yeah, a '96 Olympics Swatch is a pretty cool watch in my book.

Swatches have a Swiss quartz movement, which should be as reliable and accurate as just about anything out there.

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

Really like it so far, but not smart enough to set it. That took a few. Only issue is that my wrist size falls sort of right between two holes. I'm hoping to wear it on the tighter one and it will sort of form and stretch a little to fit.

How's that Citizen Eco-drive treatin you?  By now you've decided on a hole and figured out all the functions.  Give an update...

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

I really like it. As far as the functions go, I really don't have much use for them. Date and time is good enough for me, I just really liked the look of the watch. The fit did like I'd hoped. I went smaller hole and it has shaped to my wrist pretty good. I really like the fact that they battery charges in the sun and it seems to keep good time. I'm happy with the purchase for sure.

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

Are you sure it charges from the sun? My eco drive charges from movement.

Re: Not Really a Watch Guy.....

To my knowledge, Ecodrives are solar powered not automatic chronos
