Hello. You get us there next year. Are you gonna offer us the tickets first?  No.

How are our admins handling this poorly? Not trolling/flaming. Just curious.

You don’t need 15 separate categories for ticket buying for a regular series. Makes you look petty. Act like you have been there people.

There was 0 chance of state ppl having a large presence at the Pete w/o all this BS.

I agree 100%.   Good god it makes us look like infants seeing the Sun for the first time.  Christ almighty we actually have a top notch baseball program....could we act like it????   By the way, when are we gonna put a roof over the grand stands?  Fkn retards

If it's too hot / cold / wet / windy you can go watch it at Cowboy Gobbler's Sportatorium across the street. Seating prices vary.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

I know a lot of this pre-dates Gilbert, but I do get the sense that Gilbert is trying to engineer some kind of narrative about how he increased revenue so that he can put it on his resume and GTFO. He doesn't give a flip how his monkey business affects the athletic programs beyond the very short term.

He's probably the worst AD USM has had in my lifetime, and that's really saying something.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

Defending national champion Florida leads all teams with three preseason All-Americans overall, and the Gators tied Southern Miss for the most players on the first team (two apiece). The other programs that landed two players on the All-America teams are Cal State Fullerton, California, Florida State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Stanford and TCU.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

CUSA preseason poll/awards are out. We're picked to win the league with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Wallner was named preseason player of the year and Sandlin was named preseason pitcher of the year.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

Berry's postseason wins have been vs. South Alabama, Jacksonville State, and Chicago - Maxwell Street.

Hosting is all that matters.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

Baseball media day is tomorrow. Hopefully we get a couple tidbits out of that.

Perfect Game put out their list of top sophomores. Wallner is #8. Couple guys that are ahead of him (McClanahan and Rolison) are 2018 eligible, so take them out and he’s the #6 prospect out of 2019 college players. D1 is going to release their list of top 50 2019 prospects in the next week or so, and I think that will include HS and college guys.

https://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/Vi … icle=14850

Also, Sun Herald/Magee put out a preview of the 2018 pitching staff: http://www.sunherald.com/sports/college … nk=SecList

Re: Offseason baseball thread

Scrimmage notes/box score from today. It lasted 6 innings and was pretty well-attended (80-90 people or so). I think they were planning on playing 7 but rain was threatening.

Couple quick notes:

- Wallner struggled on the mound. Wasn't locating well then Will McGillis absolutely crushed one of his pitches for a grand slam. I think he was doing OK in some of his previous appearances so maybe this is just a fluke thing. As for McGillis, he still probably redshirts this spring but probably is our 3B next year if Reynolds leaves.

- Powers was solid. Allowed one run in 4 innings and let just 4 men on-base. Definitely has the inside track for a weekend slot.

- I think Keating gets the nod at DH opening day, but Hoard looked a lot better than he did today. Roped doubles to both sides of the field.

- Nelms didn't have his best stuff. Got through the 1st inning fine but had some trouble after that. Need him or Carroll to step up and take that midweek role.

- Wright is listed on the box score twice because he pitched for both teams. He was on the black team but finished things off for the gray team when Wallner was pulled. He was the only guy warm I guess and they didn't want to use another arm today.

Re: Offseason baseball thread

Couple things that have gone on during my 10-day vacation from the forum.

- MSU stopper Spencer Price is done for the year with TJ surgery. IMO, Riley Self is better than him but still a pretty significant loss for the Dogs. They'll need guys like Blake Smith and Keegan James to step up. Rumor is Self and JP France (their projected Sunday guy) have some minor health issues but should be OK for opening weekend. We shall see.

- Media day was last week. Berry and Wallner both spoke (see below).

https://youtu.be/b5YzfilZ28g

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onfmJoKZQRI

- D1baseball picked us to win the league. From what I've seen, we are the unanimous favorite (coaches, D1, PerfectGame, and College Baseball Daily) to win C-USA. In the preview, they say Wallner is the #1 2019 prospect in the conference with Sandlin #7 and Reynolds #10 out of 2018 prospects. Weirich (#5) and Och (#6) made their top 10 freshman list.

Wow, that stat line for Wallner is rough! Hope he puts it behind him.

We were making some improvements/modifications out in the roost before/during/after the scrimmage.

McGillis got the first horn blast for the year.  Hope Wallner didn't get upset.  McGillis crushed that pitch.

That seems highly inappropriate for a scrimmage. The guy running the horn is probably the same dude who blew out the speakers at M.M. Roberts.

Well, fans are going to make noise, especially this early in the season. Wallner probably gets that.
