New CUSA media deal will increase revenue

The Hattiesburg USA Today Insert American is reporting that media revenue will actually rebound somewhat under the new deal. Private Pyle says, "surprise, surprise, surprise."

"Conference USA’s announcement of a new multimedia rights package was met with a healthy amount of skepticism among many fans of institutions around the league.

C-USA did not disclose financial terms of the new agreements with CBS Sports Network and Stadium, nor the exact length of it, instead calling it a “multi-year” pact. But, according to a Virginian-Pilot report, the new deal is expected to represent an approximate 100 percent increase in revenue for each of the league’s 14 members — bumping the total dollar figure from $200,000 to $400,000 annually."

It's good news, in a way, but it doesn't change my take: trying to get a national media deal is stupid for CUSA. The focus should be on regional coverage: Jackson, Gulfport, Slidell, etc. Build some interest in places where there might be fans and it might matter.

What do you think of my idea, though? Fuck $400,00 per year, let's get USM sports on TV where it matters.

I've been pining for that for years now.....

every small school should budget for developing their own production and sell it for a marginal fee to those that are unable to travel....

it's a fk'n gimme putt....oh yeah, ga southern has outpaced us on that one.....

our internutz comprehension as an administration is a fucking joke.....

all one has to do is tap into our website to realize that.....

Re: New CUSA media deal will increase revenue

The RTF Dept needs to get some decent equipment for streaming sports. Charge $100 per year for full access year round for all sports. If you get 8,000 subscribers you just doubled your Judy revenue.....
